WHERE: beat down theatre WITH @taliwrites MAGIC AU
Na’im watched the small room get smaller with every rich individual gathering there, carrying their riches on their sleeves as they moved about the space, placing bets on the local circus that had come to town to perform downstairs. Normally the VIP area would be too much for him to afford, but he saw only more riches come to him as he waited, people who had too much to begin with.
A betting boy walked up to the table that Na’im had all for himself, but he tapped the table with his fingers, sparks dancing from the wood, and found it enough of a warning. The boy moved away, and he was left alone before the show. He didn’t have to wait long, most of the crowd moved to the balcony when the show was starting, and he followed suit.
He stayed away from the main crowd, settling at the edges of the balcony, from where the stage was barely visible, but visible enough. His gaze fell on the rich people first, trying to determine how much money could be won, before he followed the gazes of his targets to the stage. He watched it lazily, not really paying much attention, until a face lit by the stage lights caught his attention. Was that...?
