The music blared and thumped. Enough to make Oscar's hearing a bit muffled. His eyes had to take a moment to adjust too. So many lights flickered relentlessly. Strobing in time with the music. All the while, in the shadows, masks hid smiles. As with his usual initial survey of a space packed with bodies, Oscar stayed back. Scanning the crowd like it was a drill—no exits blocked, no one getting too close to Yvonne’s orbit without him noticing. Not even the helmet of his ridiculous firefighter get-up was going to hinder his work.

Maria slipped out of the market with a small paper bag tucked under her arm, the low hum of voices and bartering fading behind her. The air felt cooler out here, easier to breathe, and she let her shoulders relax as she stepped aside, only to bump straight into someone. She stumbled slighty backwards, instinctively steadying herself. “Oh, sorry,” she said quickly, lifting her gaze to them.

As much as Yvonne loved hanging out with her kids, a night out with other adults was exactly what the doctor ordered. Though, looking out at the assorted gangs of London pressed together into one room, doubts were starting to creep into her head.
"Not sure I should be saying this as the host, but how long do you think we'll make it without a fight breaking out? I give it two hours at the most."
One man bumped into another, and Yvonne drained her glass as they started eyeing each other up.
"Make that fifteen minutes."

Benny had been on one of his intellectual talks, as he called them. Which really meant he had about seven pints of Guinness and was ready to talk for an entire night or get into a fight. It was either and neither of the options sounded like a good one.
"Sit the fuck down." He motioned to one of the other lads to actually do that. He;d been talking about how things had been quiet and then somehow the conversation morphed into illuminati.
"Someone get me out of here." He muttered.

Jean leaned back in his chair, sipping at his cognac. When he first arrived to London, it seemed impossible that the place would ever feel like a home. That anywhere would ever feel like home again. But here, sitting in Vixen, surrounded by his brothers, his famille, he knew he was.
"Are you planning to drink anything tonight or are you just going to be a drooling mess all night?"
He never said they were a sophisticated family.
