It was a long day of more arguing and accusations and questions and fear. So much fear, and loss and grief. It was getting to be too much, and Rei wanted more and more to get out of this town, to leave Phantom Creak behind and forget all about these chaotic last few days. Most importantly, he wanted to leave before anyone else he cared about died. At the rate people were dying, it was bound to happen.

When he returned home from spending the afternoon with Gabe and Louis, he found his father sitting at the table, still awake despite his normal habits of being in bed by this time. Rei understood why. There was a killer out and he had come home later than he was meant to.

"You know, I should be pissed that Elena just sent me a text saying she's ditching me and sending someone in her place." James commented, carrying one of the boxes that had been delivered and depositing it on the bar top. "But given she sent a pretty face for me to look at." He let out a small sigh, "I just can't be mad." He flirted.

It had become like a sixth sense, being able to sense when Professor Remington had an issue with him, or something having to do with him. It helped that nobody knocked as aggressively as the man when he had a problem on his mind.

there was no concealing the distressed expression on his face at her recoil, and while it didn't physically hurt when she pushed him away, it felt like tiny shanks to his heart. his eyes fell, lips transforming into a frown when she brought up the video. he didn't see it. at least not really. online tabloids played short clips that were somewhat internet safe but he couldn't dare see the rest of it. skye had been hurt enough as it was. "skye..." he breathed, "i didn't..." and he could only hope she believed him.
