richard---if he had been paying more closely attention, if he had been on the top of his game, would have noticed the way fae has paused. the way she seemed to stare not at him, but at the brick wall outside their school. if he was not so TIRED and DISTRACTED, he would have seen this and it would have given him a pause, a thought to wonder and maybe a conclusion: that he and fay were, in some way, both having the similar issues and thoughts on their current ... relationship.
as it is, he did not notice. he was heavily distracted with his hair in curls (it felt like a weight he had back) and the memories, or nightmares, beginning to haunt him. with the itch to run away again---but at least here, his feet were still and his face merely showed his annoyance at himself.
“well. thank you.” he told her and in a moment of self-doubt, he put a hand through his curls as best as he could. “auburn and noel wouldn’t let me stay home today. a betrayal at it’s finest.”
