Amos had been growing more and more frustrated with the proposition to help Gladys in Transfiguration. While he would never say that spending time with the youngest of the Gudgeon trio was a bad thing, because he was certainly more fond of her than he was of most, he didn’t realise the challenge that would present itself whilst trying to tutor her. And really, that was his own fault, since they’d practically grown up together since he was eleven and she was ten. For there was some very public knowledge regarding Gladys – and that was the fact that she was a daydreamer.
Most of the time, Amos thought this habit of hers was pretty adorable. He’d watch her for a few moments, tease her in an effort to make her blush and then get on with his day. But she said she’d needed help with studying, so he thought that she would be solely focused on that. And he was wrong. Of course, that didn’t mean Gladys wasn’t trying, oh no. But she had drifting eyes, it seemed, that watched people as they passed. He picked up on a doodling habit she had, so hid her quill. And, when it seemed like there was no options left for her other than study, he caught her staring at him which, while flattering, was pretty counterproductive.
No wonder McGonagall was having a hard time with this one. It was still endearing, in it’s own way. But he wanted Gladys to actually learn something rather than daydream. He wanted her to actually succeed, to not feel so negative about her grades in Transfiguration.
So he clicked his fingers in front of her face to bring her back to the real world wearing a small smirk. “I know I’m good looking, Gladys, but there’s no need to ogle. People will talk.” And while there was a slight tease in his tone like normal, there was a hint of seriousness there too. He didn’t mind how long it took to get information through to her, but he wanted to see at least some progress. “Now, what’s the theory of this part here?” He asked, pointing to a part of the book.
