“I have to”, but still she wished she didn’t, not when Bella was right there. Stephanie sighed, it even felt hard to breathe sometimes around her. “Look”, turning to face her friend again, she tried to find a way to please her, “I’ll go, finish this thing and I promise I’ll be right here when you wake up”. She got her jacket from the chair, putting it on while taking a few steps back to the door. “Just go to sleep now, it’s late”.

Leaning back against the light pole of a not so good illuminated street, Tiffany kept attentively observing the petite woman on the other side of the road, inside a convenience store. A deadpan pale face covered for a few strands of her black hair that the breeze insisted on blowing, her arms crossed in front of her body, the standing private investigator was there for about ten minutes now, just staring at her friend working, seeming oblivious about her presence in the outside. Tiffany then slid her phone out of her back pocket, her calm fingers unblocking the big screen and typing in the familiar keyboard a couple of messages to Bella.
