Oh...oh no, she’d done something wrong and now she made the other feel like she was unappreciated and unwanted, oh no! Bernadetta flounders for a moment, searching for something, anything she could possibly say. Nothing jumps to mind that seems good enough, so she settles for shaking her head as much as she can.
“N-no! I mean, I would rather be alone, but that has nothing to do with you. I’m always uncomfortable! Not that your attempts to make me feel better aren’t appreciated I just, um...oh, Bernie you’ve gone and made everything awkward, you stupid, idiot girl!”
With the moment so spectacularly ruined, it’s a struggle to think of what Bernadetta can do to try and salvage the moment. Her eyes fall to the cake the other mentioned and she latches on to the change in conversation.
“You said you baked this, right? I-I’d be happy to try some if you’d, um, like.” It certainly looked good, and Bernadetta was curious to see just how it tasted. She hoped that Elincia was right and it balanced out the sweet of the tea nicely.
“Oh, and, um...you don’t have to call me Lady Bernadetta or anything. I don’t think there’s anyone who’s ever really called me that.”
