the last thing candice expected was for the other to invite her out to coffee. her clients didn’t typically see her as anything but their lawyer, and she knew that it was better that way. she didn’t necessarily assume this was a date but regardless of what it was, she was excited to be invited out nonetheless. she worked way more than she should and she deserved some downtime.
she smiled over at him as they sat down, her hands around her coffee cup in attempt to keep them warm. she was naturally a cold person and often wore sweaters and cardigans well into the summer despite the heat. “thank you for inviting me out,” she started, “it’s nice to see something other than my office and my house. it’s certainly been a while since i’ve hung out with anyone.” part of her knew it was her fault. she often rejected offers for drinks but she found it hard to say no to him. “do you go out often?”
