Silence
@multiversalmansion
It was quiet, silent even, the crickets refused to chirp and the bugs hardly fluttered. The silence was almost eerie, a lonesome feeling that couldn’t quite be comprehended by the beast. The only other person who wandered the house at the time was Silky. Chise had gone to bed long ago, Ruth by her side as she did so, but Elias found that he wasn’t tired at all. In fact he was quite the opposite of tired. He was wide awake and distracted with other things. Sitting in the living room with a book in his hand, he was satiating his curiosity. The book was one about psychology and the impact of emotions, what they were, and how they effected the behavior of humans especially in society. Pulling facts from sociology as well.
He was no more than a child in an adult’s body after all, he was just as curious as a kid no older than six or seven. He wanted to learn and understand but all the same having only one teacher who was especially young, only made it harder to understand at times. Was he feeling anxiety or worry? Was he feeling depressed or just sad? Was he feeling joy or excitement? Emotions are so close to each other that they are hard to identify and understand, and then hard to let them effect his actions in an irrational way. Elias found he had to work harder and harder to get things to work the way he wants them too. So what did he do? He studied hard and tried his best to make things work out. He wanted to understand and to play his actions and interactions accordingly.
The silence of his home was perfect to do that. With nobody speaking to him, nobody doing anything, and the night still and calm it was relatively easy to study. He was lonely, of course, that much he could understand as Chise wasn’t by his side walking him through his studies, but he would have to make due until he felt himself growing weary from exhaustion and thus decided to join her in bed. That was his favourite part of the day, the time where he could lay down beside his wife and fall asleep, feeling her presence beside him even if he couldn’t hold her really because of the way he has to be positioned in order to sleep.
The knock at the door brought his attention back to reality. His gaze rose and he heard Silky open the door before she quickly went to retrieve the master of the house. “A guest? How peculiar...” He mused beneath his breath quietly.
