the man had done a lot of questionable things in his past and he certainly wasn't a saint now, but that didn't mean that he wasn't doing better. zach bet on horse races and boxing matches and maybe even swindled money at the casino but he didn't manipulate anyone to fall for him and take their money anymore. since stella had come along, he shifted into doing different things. after all, he refused to betray her again. unfortunately for him, one of his past lovers managed to find him and the moment he opened the letter, he knew he couldn't stay at his place anymore. rushing over to stella's, he knocked in a hurried manner. he was nervous. he didn't like things turning on him. "Stella, it's zach. i need you."

any excuse to get the girl out of the house and in his company was something he was behind. Zach couldn’t help but the smile the moment she entered his sight. There was something about seeing her that made his heart flutter and his stomach knot. He was definitely in deep and he was sure that he looked like a love stick puppy. “Hey there, beautiful.” He breathed out and laced their fingers together as he approached her, his lips pressing against her cheek. “I was hoping you weren’t going to stand me up.” He teased, his hand squeezing hers and then glancing back at the event starting behind them. “Where do you think we should start first? Should we grab something sweet? Salty? Are you ready to drink? I’m down with whatever you want to do but I’m gonna be honest, I kind of want to try everything.”

he found himself less interested in work nowadays and more interested in going home to stella. she really had his heart and as scary as it was, he wouldn't go back if he could. zach was genuinely happy. after his win at the horse track, he used some of the money that he pocketed to buy the two of them dinner. walking into their now shared space with a to go back in his hand, his eyes immediately searched for stella. "baby, i'm home," he called out, setting the food on the counter before he moved through the place to find her, "i picked up dinner on the way. i figured we could eat and cuddle on the couch." he added. as he found her in her room, his head tilted to one side, "is everything okay?"

today was the day that things were supposed to be taken care of. a part of him was on edge. what if her guy couldn't do as he promised? what if he never could get rid of his past. that's definitely something that he was worried about, if he were being honest. he had yet to leave the house for the day and he wasn't sure that he could. he was too paranoid about everything going on that he could be himself if he did. he'd probably lose money rather than gain it. looking up from the tv as the door opened, his eyes met hers. "is it done?" he asked softly. "is she gone?" he wasn't so much worried about amber as he was of losing stella. after all, stella was everything to him.
