Field Work { lucas & candice }
Sneasel danced around the battlefield with feather-light steps, running circles around Ursaring. From the sidelines Candice watched the two practice and spar-- Ursaring was a bit like the big papa bear of her team, and he was always getting the others to better themselves, namely her Gym team. Sneasel, being the youngest and newest member of the bunch, had taken to practicing under Urasring’s careful watch.
Hitting with a lightning-fast Slash attack, Sneasel managed to push Ursaring back a few feet with the force. The larger Pokemon grumbled and immediately countered with a Hammer Arm, which Sneasel easily dodged. The little Pokemon’s eyes flitted over to Candice, seeking approval, to which the Gym Leader nodded reassuringly. “Keep it up! You’re doing well, Sneasel!”
The practice continued, and as Candice looked on, one of the Gym trainers came jogging over to her side. “Miss Candice,” he said, a little puffed, “there’s someone waiting outside to see you.”
The news made her eyes brighten. “Ah! He’s here already?” The man nodded. “Tell him I’ll be there in a minute, okay?” Looking a little upset that he had to jog all the way back to the entrance, the trainer turned and headed back the way he’d come.
Ursaring and Sneasel didn’t spare much of a glance to their trainer as she strolled away in the direction of the entrance, too engrossed in their practice match. While she walked Candice flipped through the emails on her phone, quickly re-scanning the one she’d received from Professor Rowan a few days ago. I’m sending my assistant to Snowpoint... Doing some field work for me while I’m away... Please make sure he finds his way around...
Candice, upon reading the message for the first time, had obviously decided that she’d offer him her help. The Gym had been quiet recently, with very few challengers braving the snowstorms to come and face her, so she was getting a little restless. She was the kind of person who always liked to be doing something-- and this would be a great way to keep busy and have a good time in the process.
Finally making her way through the doors at the entrance, sparing a soft hello to the couple of Gym trainers standing there, she stepped out and was met with the sight of a young boy waiting for her. He wore a thick white scarf wrapped tightly over his neck, shielding his skin from the cold, and Candice couldn’t help but smile at the sight.
“Hey there! Lucas, right?” She smiled warmly at the younger boy, giving him a casual two-fingered salute. “My name’s Candice; I’m the Gym Leader around here! The Professor let me know that you were coming to Snowpoint to do some research for him, and that you might need a hand-- well, I’ve got two of ‘em! I’d be glad to lend them to the cause, if you’ll have me.” Her smile widened as she waited patiently for his response.
