if anyone were to view evelyn from an outside perspective, she had it all. she had an amazing career, a beautiful home, and she lived a life of luxury. evelyn didn't come around to the city she grew up in for multiple reasons, the biggest reason being the fear of running into her ex lover. the first person she was ever in love with. the memories of true were breathtakingly beautiful and vulnerable. though they were also threaded with pain that evelyn wouldn't be able to share. leaving this city allowed her to grow and move on from all of her insecurities. but here she was, returning for one of her closest friends party. it had been a couple years since she saw them, so she didn't hesitate to take the flight and make her appearance.
as she walked around the party mingling with old acquaintances, her date was already nagging for them to leave the party together and have their own fun - evelyn decided against it. that was a common issue she had with the women she tend to date. they were beautiful women, but they never truly connected with her. that was the one area evelyn wasn't successful in. she wouldn't classify herself as a womanizer but she always had a new woman at her side every so often. evelyn wasn't innocent either however, there was a small ego that she had built over the years. an ego that made her have certain standards for the women she had gotten involved with.
excusing herself to the open bar, evelyn stood there patiently waiting for her cosmo before a familiar silhouette hit her peripheral vision. fuck, was all the woman could think to herself. she could feel her heart beating through her chest before the woman seemed to be headed towards the bar as well. evelyn had froze in place the second she heard the voice she thought she'd buried years ago. memories came flooding her mind without warning. after true finished saying her order, evelyn shifted her body in her direction, drawn in like a magnet. "wow," was all she could utter for a split second, "you look amazing." it had been years since the two of them saw one another and god was evelyn immediately impressed. she always was with true, the other woman knew how to dominate a space. there was only one person who could make evelyn feel those butterfly nerves, that was true. the brunette ran her hand through her hair before offering a smile, "long time no see."
