Rewind was quiet today, Sky noted. He wasn’t a huge customer - truth be told he wasn’t a huge film fan and could count on one hand the number of movies he had watched in the last few months - but he knew it was where he could find Vivian, and for that reason he had made his way to the store, half expecting to find her swamped and unable to find the time to have a conversation with him. As it turned out, no one in Cardinal seemed to be in the mood to rent a tape. Go figure. It wasn’t that they were close. Sky had actually only met Vivian a few times before, and their connection was tenuously built to begin with. He’d been piss drunk close to the start of his time in Cardinal, and stumbled across an equally piss drunk Vivian who as it turns out was not just piss drunk but high. Suffice it to say he’d not met anyone else in Cardinal who shared those habits with him. And as much as he might not intend on finding healthier habits, he had become lonely. As it turned out, company in conjunction with the substances of choice made for a good cocktail of forgetting one’s past, which was of course precisely the point. Which led to his current state, in Rewind leaning against the counter until she turned to face him. “Hey, Viv. You got any plans tonight?”
