Despite Bernie’s very brave request for help, the first thing the professor does is walk away. Bernie’s left very confused, and for a second she considers calling out after her. But then she sees Beleth pull out a knife and Bernie stays very quiet as she wonders if maybe she’d been better off not bothering a professor about this...
She squeezes her eyes as Beleth turns and starts making her way back to her. When the order is given, Bernie flinches and tries not to whine too hard from the pain that shoots through her cooked skin. She opens one eyes, slowly, then the other, and blinks in surprise. “Oh!”
The knife is gone, and aloe leaves are in its place. That makes sense, she realizes slowly. Bernie’s familiar with the uses of the plant, even if she’s never actually used it with her own two hands.
She glances back at Beleth again and, slowly, turns around to present the tender skin to her professor. She’s quiet, vibrating with a nervous energy, and glancing back over at her a few times. “Um...I-I’m sorry, I’m probably bothering you with this for nothing, huh? I could’ve gone to see someone else...I’m sorry!”
