His horse was saddled at the stable just at the edge of town, his rations and healing supplies restored, and that left Lasso wandering around town square, people approaching him to genuinely ask after his adventures, what seal he bore on his robes, or to simply try and distract him so that his coin-purse could be nicked.

After a while, that reminded him enough of a certain someone to make his way to the Siren’s Song again. It had been some time, after all.

Tav was never the most forthcoming, but Ted could see in the way he drank or in the sidelong looks he gave tonight that something had struck him lately. Lasso wouldn’t pry—if Tav wanted to talk, he would. So, after finishing a story about a young farmhand tipping him off to a creature that was terrorizing their farm at night, Ted’s seat edged closer to Tav’s at the bar.
