dino sat on the steps of his front porch, blowing the smoke he'd inhaled from his cigarette out of his lips as he thought about what had happened the night before. was it a mistake? that's all that he could think about. surely, the other wasn't going to want this to be something long term when they could do so much better. he was snapped out of his thought process when he heard his screen door swing open indicating that the other was officially awake. "morning," he started, "you sleep okay?"

the man didn't normally mix business with pleasure but he couldn't stop himself from looking at the woman when they had their one on one sessions together. "what did i tell you? you're getting better with each lesson." he commented and while normally he would be looking at his client in the face, he couldn't help but allow his eyes to scan over her body. "and your form? amazing." he breathed out, as if he were trying to play it off.

things didn't work. they couldn't seem to make them work no matter how hard they tried but it wasn't like he couldn't ever see her again. the two had kids together and every time they swapped them back and forth between each other's houses, he lingered near her and found himself making some sort of move in attempt to draw her back in. he'd tucked their kids into bed and found himself back in the kitchen where his ex was standing. "you want a glass of wine before you go or somethin'?"

dino's arms stayed wrapped around the other, his lips pressed against the top of her head. "this vacation," he took a deep breath, "wasn't completely spontaneous. there's something i need to tell you and i need you to promise me you'll try to understand..."

"you know what? i think i've had enough," dino started as he leaned against the door frame of their bedroom, "if you don't want to be with me anymore then just say that but i'm not going to keep going back and forth with you."

dino didn't believe in that ghosting bullshit and so, when he'd over heard his nephew talking about how he wasn't going to meet up with some girl at the diner, he decided to take it upon himself to apologize for his lack of manners. he couldn't even believe what he was hearing because he assumed that he and his younger brother had taught his nephew better than that. apparently, they hadn't. all he knew about the girl is that her name was sam and so, he hoped that he would end up finding her so that some poor girl wasn't stuck waiting there for a date that wasn't going to show up.

parking in front of the place, he got out of his car and headed inside. he hoped he didn't come off as a creep and instead, more like someone who was trying to look out for whoever this girl was. he made a mental note to scold the younger male later for being so immature. he spotted a blonde in a booth by herself and slowly made his way over to her, "ah," he cleared his throat, "your name wouldn't be sam, would it?"

dino wasn’t typically the kind of guy that got himself involved with married women but he wasn’t oblivious t the way that jo looked at him. he’d be an idiot not to look at her the same way, especially being as beautiful as she was and he couldn’t help but want her. of course, in fear of losing his job he’d never make a move but that didn’t mean he hadn’t thought about it. he was parking the lawn mower and hoping off of the yard equipment when he noticed her approaching him. “ms. jo. what can i do for ya, this afternoon?” he questioned with a smile crawling over his sun tanned face.
