“do you ever wonder what would have happened if we hadn’t met?”
“No, I haven’t,” Nora answered. “I’m kinda wondering why you have been.”
That was an assumption, the brunette was aware of it, but Nik’s question had gotten her head spinning with thoughts. Despite the fact of them no longer being together, their relationship not being able to withstand the turmoil that came with their separate lives, Nora didn’t regret a single moment spent with him.
“Where’d that come from?” It was a little more than sheer curiosity that pushed that question forth. The brunette who moonlighted as a bartender was a confident woman, the last thing she wanted though was to have caused a divide too great between them. “Have I fucked things up that bad? Beyond repair?”
Once she approached him, put her hands on him, one resting against his sternum and the other on his ribs, the thief gazed up at him with deceivingly sweet puppy dog eyes.
Nora was no innocent puppy, nor was she sweet. Well, at least not to many people besides Nik. He was a man that got a see a different side to her.
“Your train of thought is worrying me here.”
