I'm sorry I was so shitty to you and I really don't have any excuses." Ali never thought she'd run into them again, but being face to face with her past was something she'd never quite be ready for.

Ali sighed, tugging her checked luggage from the belt as it came around. "We just need to get through this stupid vacation with your best friend and his stupid annoying fiancé. That's all. We can tell everyone about our breakup when we get back home." Cranky. She was cranky. Lack of sleep, turbulence on the plane, and a general dislike for his friend's fiancé was making all of this terrible. He wasn't terrible.. but she wouldn't admit that right now. Her hands came to rest on her hips. "Did they bother arranging their own transportation to the resort, or do we have to do that, too? Their flight hasn't landed yet, I don't want to wait around for them. Can we just.. get a head start on going to the resort so I can shower and change into a bikini and lay by the pool with a fruity drink? Please?"

"... Wait. Let me just make sure I understand. Your parents' Christmas party is tonight, and you need me to be your... what? Fake date? Why didn't you just find an actual date." Ali rolled her eyes at Luke, arms folding around her middle. "Kind of a last minute favor, don't you think? Kind of rude of you to assume I don't have any plans." She was being difficult -- she already decided to say yes, because Ali loved being owed favors by him. He'd owe her for this one, so it was hard to pass up. "You know the more lies I have to tell, the bigger the favor, right? So if you want me to tell them we're dating, indicating that you have an actual life, it'll cost ya." Lips spread into a grin as she winked at him.

"What?!" Ali almost choked on her coffee. "I'm fully booked this month! What do you mean, a big anniversary party?" She looked over her shoulder at her assistant Naomi who feigned innocence, but it was difficult to sell the lie. She'd been over-booked, and no one on her staff wanted to admit the mistake. "Fine, fine.. just.. send them in. Is it the couple, or someone else?" She'd gather up the mess she'd made on her desk and shoved it all into a drawer before straightening out her top and sitting back down behind the glass desk. She barely clocked what her assistant said before she heard footsteps that broke the silence Naomi left when she hurried out of Ali's office. "Hi..."
