It was not the first time Stella had been alone in her theories, that she had felt as if she were fighting not only against the killer, but against her own team, so many male colleagues who were so reluctant to listen to the instructions of a woman who was their superior, someone brought in to review their team, that they could be blind to what was so blatantly obvious.
But Stella was not easily deterred. These victims needed justice, and she needed to ensure that there were no more women to join them. And the answers, she suspected, lay in a cold case that was current in the hands of a detective named Charles Lazarus. Though she had never worked with him personally, she knew enough of him that he was considered a good detective, even in light of his recent injuries.
She found him at his desk, presumably in the middle of his work.
"DI Lazarus?" She asked in greeting, giving him the respect of his initialled title as she called his attention. "I was wondering if I might have a word."
