Cass was really tired of thinking there couldn't be some new crazy thing happening around him, only to be proven wrong every single time. When the tentacle had burst out of the water, he'd been shocked, like most of the people around him. Thankfully, he'd been out of the lake, not necessarily out of reach, but with plenty of targets between himself and the slimy beast. When people started to get hurt, Cass took the opportunity to run.
He didn't run away from the lake entirely, but alongside it. His thoughts were racing, but half of them were wondering if everyone was going to be okay. It had been a while since he'd seen Lynx, and he needed to make sure he was okay. "Lynx?!" He called out, looking around at the panicking crowd, trying to pick out the other's face. When he glanced over at the lake again, it was because of the screams, and he watched as the chubby police officer was picked up and dragged struggling into the water.
Then the chaos was just the aftermath, people running or helping or sitting traumatized. Cass kept moving, though he wasn't running anymore. Just walking as fast as he could, searching nearby faces, asking friends and family if they were okay before quickly moving on. None of them were Lynx.
When he found Lynx, it was a little bit away from the pandemonium. "Lynx?" Cass flung himself at the familiar shoulders, wrapping his arms around them. Weird that he knew the back of Lynx's head, but he did. "Jesus, are you okay? Where the fuck were you, I didn't see you?" He quickly pulled himself around so he could look over the front of the other, looking concerned. Lynx definitely looked worse for wear, but thankfully not like he'd been smacked around by a giant tentacle, which was what Cass had most feared.
