Industrial pulse encoder
This encoder has a three pin layout. The common pin “S” is typically set the the negative rail and the two pulse pins “CW” and “CCW” are set on the sensing circuits. (As seen in the lower image)
As the shaft is turned if the direction is clockwise then the “CW” pin has a leading rising edge. For counter clockwise the “CCW” pin has a leading rising edge. The encoder is connected to the shaft and transfers through the housing via a bearing. The shaft can be attached many different ways to the machine most of the time it’s a pulley or a gear.
