Me and Jess just got on the subway back to her apartment. Today was really fun and this morning feels like a millon years ago. Those are the best days. 

I slept okay last night. I was to warm at first but once i cooled off I was able to fall asleep pretry easy.

Jess woke up before me. But I got up about 830. Got dressed and we were out the door and on the train before 930. 

First stop was brunch. The butcher's daughter. A vegetarian cafe. It was very cute and the food was pretty good. It was raining this morning and it was a little chilly at times. But that was okay. 

We wandered around a bit after food. We went to a couple different places. The first one had a $5 rack which was great and i got a shirt and pants that fit me so well and made me feel realy nice about myself. 

Then to the mini mall but the piercing place wasn't there anymore. Ah well. I got a hair clip from the vintage place there. 

We also went to this very hard to find vintage market that was inside a bug old factory space. Everything was kept in trashcans, which made it hard to search, but I got a smock shirt like I wanted and a prettt slip skirt. And because its 420 they gave us free cbd tea. Nice. 

We hit up a couple more places. Got some good deals. The Ltrain vintage was probably my favorite. A whole lot of handmade Mexican pieces. I got a beautiful wrap skirt from there. I ended up with 3 skirts plus the slip by the end of the day. Jess tried on about 75 jackets and got 2, and an amazing jumpsuit. Awesome. I had to stop myself from buying a $40 purse because the leather was soft but i held strong. 

I was running out of steam by the last place. I had realized my poor Shelby's tennies had snapped a bit. Should be fixable but bummed me out a little. And we were bith hungry, it was almost 4!

So we wnt to this brick oven pizza place that was very busy but very good. We got a white pizza and Jess rolled hers because shes hilarious but it was good and I had fun. It was very cold though! Good thing Jess bought 2 coats so we wore those and it wasnt so bad. 

We went home after that. Got back to her neighborhood. Stopped at the drug store. Then home for snacks and showing off what we got. We hung out on the couch for a while. But eventually i fell asleep. 

Jess went to bed too. And we slept until a bit after 730. We were groggy but we wanted to go to tapis for dinner. So off we went.

We took 2 trains to get there. And it was good. I just felt really tired so it was a little hard. And after food we got ice cream. I got a very tiny little milkshake that was birthday cake flavor. It was an excellent night. 

Today's been a really great Saturday. Im sad tonorrow is our last day but its been a really great visit. It's easter tomorrow but were hoping to go to the art museum and have a chill day before I head back to Baltimore.

Fold Finds | Second-hand Toronto Tour

As with all the cities I've visited while in North America, a quick runaround of Toronto's op-shops, vintage and second-hand stores was in order while in town. As per the norm, Toronto has a load of clothing stores with a wide variety of stock. Nothing hugely rare or unique, but what I did find was good for the dime. For a cheap clothes hit, The Public Butter in Parkdale would be my pick. Keep an eye out for their weekend sales or 1/2 price type offer days. I snapped up a half decent suit, a jacket and a vintage tee for $50. The possibility of stumbling on a bargain seems high here making PB worthy a semi-regular visit. For more a 'curated' selection of stock, House of Vintage across the road has a good standard of product, catering more to specific (read: coolsie) take on vintage. Pricier, but if you're looking for the 'current' vintage look (as contradictory as that sounds) House of Vintage is probably decent starter. On the collectible and furniture side there's also a healthy showing of stores, with my two favorites not only stocking a wide selection of high quality of product but both doing so with a loose overarching theme or 'house style' in mind. This was refreshing to see after having now visited so many stores on this trip that haven't presented a general direction or narrowed take on second-hand collectibles. The first of these two stand outs is Morba, which when I first walked in didn't instantly impress, but once I'd made my way past the repro Fred new homewaresy stuff through to the back room it was floor to ceiling gold. Lamp shades out the wazoo, vintage audio (always a winner), mid-century desks and matching desk trinkets, world maps, globes and chairs stacked to the very top of the jam packed trove. Looking like a era's worth of mid-century studies and split-level dens crammed into one room, Morba is no bargin hunters paradise but is definitely worth a look. Among the many other antique and second hand stores in the area, Queen West Antiques Center was by far the most interesting. Again, the look here is leaning towards mid-century office furniture, but with a nod towards a more industrial public-office/institutional type offering. The space itself is massive which makes for a good guilt free browse, so there was plenty of time and space to take in one of the biggest collections of paint-by-numbers framed paintings and anatomy posters I've seen. This school room theme continues with anatomical models (both human and animal!), maps, trophies, charts, desks and chairs all throughout the warehouse-like store. Beyond the walls, the space is filled with a strong showing of fair priced mid-century and industria that had me doing the sums on shipping a container load back home. So from curation to chaos, with a trip to Value Village for a proper sniff of Canuck thrift. Value Village is the Canadian equivalent of Melbourne's Savers stores, thrift supermarket style, there's all mater of crap on offer. Like any true op-shop visit, it's all about the the dig and among the usual bulk of ridiculousness/averageness, the stand out finds were a great set of mirror framed Jesus prints, a cross stitched Tabasco bottle and a Fu Schnickens cassette tape. My trip here (and previous visits to Goodwill in the States) strengthens my theory on a universal, worldwide bric-a-brac and thrift store trash - majority of which is made up of wicker baskets and cermamic statuettes.
