Third Year
Following on from my practise in second year I want to continue exploring the use of etchings in response to bacteria. I’m viewing my work during the last year as a ‘run through’ where I got to get to know etching as a process of experimentation in order to get to grips with it. Now I am going to repeat the entire process however this time with a better knowledge of the process as a whole.
I am hoping to create a set of field notes, one based on the bacteria colonies, documenting the process and development and another set based on the translation from the petri dishes onto the prints.
My Third year practise is going to be all about translation. Translating what is happening in the petri dishes onto the etching plates and into the form of a print. This will produce a series of experimental translation prints aiming to ‘reproduce’ and ‘translate’ one into the other.
