The bow and arrow was her preferred form of long-range weapon. She was well practiced with throwing knives, but there was a tranquility to the rhythm of archery that was not so easily replicated. And while she was eager to join the festivities, it could wait a little longer— she needed a moment of peace before this week of revelry. Alanna took a deep breath in, drawing the bow. She eyed the target, feeling the wind against her cheek and swaying slightly to account for it. Out. The arrow went swiftly, its flight true as it landed cleanly into the target. A smirk played on her lips as she fired five more arrows into the target. In. Out. She slowly lowered the bow, before smiling at the onlooker. “Care to join me?”
the king’s invitation spread far and wide, each great house and its vassals invited to witness the coronation of the next targaryen king, mere weeks since king aerys iii took his last breath. king’s landing is renewed in its splendor, a sight to behold by any traveler through the crownlands, and, for the first time since aerys iii’s coronation and the rebuilding of the capital commenced, the red keep has opened its doors to the public once more. but before the new king and queen of the southern king can be coronated, a week’s worth of celebrations will take place to welcome in travelers from far and wides, the street’s of king’s landing bustling with merchants and traders, shops open hoping to make some coin and taverns filled with more drink than they’d ever know what to do with. while final preparations take place, guests are encouraged to indulge in all the finery that the south has to offer.

the event will cover about a week of time, but will not include the coronation. information about that will be released at the end of the event !
your muses can be anywhere from just arriving to king’s landing, settling in, or engaging in any number of activities that the royal family has planned !
there will be tourney’s, a market bazaar, celebrations hosted amongst great & vassal houses, etc. muses are free to explore the grounds of the red keep and wander king’s landing to their heart’s desires !

this event will last for a week and a half, which will conclude with a ball on the eve of the king’s coronation ! beginning at 12pm est on sunday, december 12th, the event will run in its entirety until wednesday, december 22nd at 8pm est.
all threads & starters during this time should be tagged as thronesevent01 & thronescoronation.
threads can be continued after the event has ended, though no new event threads should be started.

as the guests settle in, there’s a buzz that fills the air, excitement at what’s to come. the days of tourneys and art, whispers shared behind closed doors and false niceties shared among nobles, blur together before long. with enough drink, it was hard to blame them. still, there is nothing more exciting than what some might consider the apex of their visit : the eve of the king’s coronation. a ball of the grandest scale has been planned, with all of the finest foods and drink one could imagine and then some. guests are asked to don their very best, drink to their hearts content, and enjoy the festivities late into the evening. but be sure to get enough rest, for first thing in the morning, the king and queen will be crowned and the gods will flip their coins one way or another.
