hi there ! it very much pains me to write this as i’ve had an absolute blast writing with all of you over the last seven months ( !!! ), but i’ve been struggling with muse and coming on a great deal lately, and because of that, on top of just generally slower activity, i’ve decided to go ahead and close down thrones. you all have been such amazing members and i’ve loved every second of chaos and mayhem we’ve caused, and it was absolutely a good run while it lasted ! you all are, of course, free to continue writing to your hearts desire, and i wish you all nothing but the best <3

peace has settled blissfully over westeros at last, after months of torment and enough loss to last everyone a lifetime. as the festival of the spring blooms come to a close, it seems that their time in highgarden and, by association, their time under the watchful gaze of the southern queen regent, is very nearly over. though very few resolutions have been made, it’s clear that there seems to be very little reason to worry any more and, therefore, the queen feels there is no need to keep everyone holed up any longer, no reason for them to remain locked in borders that were not their own. it is announced at the festivals closing feast that in just over a week’s time, everyone will be free to return to their own lands, tend to their people, and reacclimatize to life in their respective kingdoms. life will finally get to return to normal and, by the gods, may peace prevail.

though the event ends tonight ( 11:59pm est, june 6 ), event threads can be continued and new ( non - event ) ones can be started, though all threads should not progress past 12pm est on july 15.
after the event concludes, threads can focus on packing and preparing for their travels home, but we will not be writing out any of the travel. as of 12pm est on july 15, we will be entering our second arc, which as you can see above, will be taking place in dorne.
there will be a time skip of three months between everyone leaving highgarden and their arrival to dorne, feel free to headcanon out how your characters spent this time. if there are any major plots you’re interested in your character ( s ) going through during those three months ( marriage, pregnancy, etc. ), between now & the 15th is the time to let me know so that i can make a note & best accommodate !
obviously, the characters don’t know that they’ll only be home for a few months, but this knowledge is given to you to best plan accordingly.
your characters are free to do as they please once they leave highgarden, whether they return to their respective seats or spend time with friends, family, or loved ones elsewhere.

the first spring after a long winter is always one to celebrate, a time when the lands have finally begun to recover from their time buried beneath the snow and the air grows warm with the promise of a fruitful season. this year, the season has already begun as the lands of the reach fill with pops of color and the fields and orchards grow ripe with some of the freshest fruits and vegetables in all the land. every spring, highgarden celebrates this a ten day festival ‘ the festival of the spring bloom, ’ giving residents ( and now visitors ) the opportunity to enjoy beautiful flowers beyond the castle gardens, relish is local delicacies, drink, and be merry to their hearts content. even with everything going on, scouting parties still frequent for the bandits that ambushed them weeks ago and several still recovering from losses or injuries, the ruling lord refuses to let a beautiful tradition succumb to the horrors of the world around them. preparations have been going for the past couple weeks since the engagement ball, and now guests will get to appreciate a whole new side of highgarden.

as mentioned above, this event takes place roughly two weeks after the events of the engagement ball, a time likely filled with peace, scouting parties, and personal agendas.
in character, the event will occur over a ten - day period, celebrations and activities taking place from sun up till sun down and even far beyond that. there is a perimeter just beyond the three walls of highgarden that guests are free to roam to their hearts content.
in the outer ring, the maze will be as open as it always is to any soul daring enough to attempt to make it through ( or any couple eager to find a moment alone ). guests are also invited to enter the older towers in this ring to get a better view of the endless fields of flowers and orchards.
in the middle ring is where you’ll find all the merchants selling bouquets, freshly picked fruits and vegetables, and a plethora of foods made with them for you to savor the tastes of the reach. as with any market, it’s also a great opportunity to peruse and purchase wares such as swords, gowns, fabrics, etc.
the castle itself lies in the inner ring, doors and windows open from morning till night to allow the warm spring breeze to enter the halls, carrying with it the sweet scents of the city. all parts of the castle remain open to its guests, including the fountains and personal tyrell gardens and, if you ask nicely, access to their wine cellars.
beyond the walls are fields upon fields of flowers in full bloom, able to be walked through ( or get lost in ) at one’s leisure; from golden roses to tulips to bundles of hyacinth and more, they are full of radiant colors. guests are encouraged to pick flowers and, it is often said to bring good luck if one gifts flowers to one they love or plan to court during the festival. also beyond the walls are orchards full of the ripest fruits of the season, and it’s not uncommon to go through and pick a few to taste for oneself. trees full of fireplums and peaches, fields of strawberries and melons, all to be enjoyed by the public. small pleasure boats will also be available for quiet trips down the mander, making them perfect for romantic rendezvous, afternoon picnics, or just some time away from everyone else.
on day 5 there will be a jousting tourney in the sweeping fields behind the gardens in the inner ring, stands set up and by the end of it, one valiant winner. at the end of the tourney, the winner will have the ability to crown someone as the queen of love and beauty, often a declaration of love or courtship, crowned with a wreath of flowers and the victory dedicated to them.

this event with last for about two and a half weeks, just to account for all the possibilities ( and potential excitements to be included ). it will begin at midnight est on june 20 and go until 11:59pm est on july 6. a separate post will be made in regards to the tourney on june 27, and details regarding participation will be posted in the discord.

the journey to highgarden was not without grief, not the simple nor straightforward journey they’d hoped it to be. the bandit attack made tensions rise even farther, and while the tyrells arrange for their assailants to be swiftly taken care of, many still reel from the losses and injuries of their loved ones. the last leg of the trip is one made with much haste, no one eager to remain on the road any longer than they had to, and too right they were for that. what were their options, after all ? flee to their own homes and be considered traitors to the crown, or hope for safety in numbers during their travels ? neither seemed ideal, but if they wished to have answers and revenge, they wouldn’t get it by making a point of leaving.
arriving to highgarden, discussions immediately begin about the bandits, accusations thrown and search parties sent out. a little over a week passes when the dowager lady makes the announcement, that they will be celebrating not only the engagement of her daughter, vareena tyrell to matteo cerwyn, but also that of prince rhaegar targaryen to reila cerwyn, after being made aware of their own engagement. the celebrations be the perfect way for their guests to enjoy all the finery that highgarden has to offer, and will be a great time to strengthen whatever political alliances may be brewing. now, more than ever, it is important to determine who is your friend, and who is your enemy. admire the beauty of the roses, but do not dare to forget the thorns that lie beneath.

as the above states, at the time this event starts, everyone has been in highgarden for about a week and a half, getting the lay of the land and adjusting after their arduous journey !

all of highgarden is free for muses to roam, though the main engagement ball will take place in the great hall. harpers, fiddlers, and singers will occupy the inside, as well as the edges of the briar labyrinth, but be mindful that if you venture too deep, you may very well get lost !

the roseroad, for what it’s worth, is not nearly as daunting as the high road through the mountains of the vale, nor as treacherous as the boneway through the red mountains into dorne. as far as travel goes, it is easy if not monotonous, horses and carriages alike meandering past lush forests and over the mander itself, spring in full bloom beyond the walls of king’s landing. but that is not all westeros has been tending to while the nobles have spent the last few months in lockdown, for it seems that seeds of unrest have been sowed among those that lingered outside of the capital, common folk uneasier by the day as the death toll only seemed to rise. the roseroad is blissfully beautiful, but the eyes that watch them from the shadows of the tree line are anything but kind.
after just over a week of being on the road, finally reaching the fork that will either take them south towards highgarden, or west towards goldengrove, the traveling caravan stops for an afternoon of rest. unbeknownst to them, a group of bandits had slowly been following along through the trees, members of all orgins and statures and loyalty, and all eager to get their hands on everything they could. for they were not shy with their splendor, four kingdom’s worth of gold and trinkets and lives worth more coin than they’d ever know what to do with. with the nobles least suspecting, they launch a volley of arrows towards the smattering of camps, following close behind with a variety of swords and makeshift spears, intent on harming anyone that got in their way. and for the first time in months, it’s made abundantly clear that no one is safe, no where is safe.
several find themselves injured in the initial fray of the attack, in the panic that unfolds rapidly around them. arrows whizz by and the shouts startle the horses, meralyn stark tossed from hers into a pile of rocks and cracking some ribs, while reila cerwyn’s injuries are minor in comparison, arm sliced by an arrow and tailbone hurting something fierce. delena blacktyde finds herself hit with a poison arrow and knocked unconscious, left in a worrisome condition. queen regent selina targaryen takes a poison arrow to the arm in a pointed assassination attempt, carriage attacked by the bandits and carried by a kingsguard while consciousness is lost. other’s acquire wounds as the fighting begins, braxton flowers receiving a gash along his cheek, and gwynevere blacktyde several cuts and defensive wounds as they do their best to protect those they care for. echo bolton finds herself taking a blow aimed for her husband, through his own cowardice alone, and a handful of bandits take princess lyarra stark hostage for several long moments and ends up getting stabbed in scuffle of breaking free. other bodies cry out in pain around them, ladies like alerie redwyne and argella selmy attempting to hold their own, the latter hit in the head and concussed, while karson snow is stabbed in an attempt to protect taria dayne, and valter pyke ran headlong into the fray.
not everyone is so lucky to escape with injuries, to be promised recovery, and the violence escalates to the point that several lose their lives. princess saga greyjoy, a valiant fighter, finds herself bested in the end, outnumbered and with a knife embedded in her back. ruling lord eliar bolton receives what is coming to him, in the end, his wife turning the tables and with the aide of the dowager lady arryn, quickly drive a blade through his heart. talitha dayne, in attempt to protect her youngest brother, throws herself in front of him and pays the price with her life. ruling lord orland mooton, terrible man that he is, finds himself face to face with his eventual son - in - law, and what one would assume was a moment of understanding, of fighting together, turns into warik arryn taking the lord’s life right then and there. and, unnoticed, a second assassination attempt is made, this time against ruling princess sita martell, and it’s successful, using the unfolding chaos as a distraction to poison the princess and exact revenge.
the nobles, though exhausted, are able to rest at last with the majority of the bandits now dead or injured enough that they won’t see morning’s light. any other’s that may have slipped through the cracks are few in number and ruling lord tyrell assures they will be taken care of promptly, once their wounded and deceased were tended to. sleep doesn’t come easily that night, and though recovering adds a couple days to their journey while damages are assessed and the caravan regroups, there is no denying that they’re much more eager to get to the safety of highgarden now than they were before.

tldr : during their travels to highgarden ( just around the halfway point ), the travelers are ambushed by bandits that had been watching them since they crossed the mander and several are injuried to various degrees, while others die as a result.
the deceased : ruling lord eliar bolton, ruling lord orland mooton, princess saga greyjoy, ruling princess sita martell, talitha dayne.
at this point, everyone is tending to the wounded or mourning the deceased, and can be a great jumping off point or inclusion in threads, especially now that tensions are so high for the last half of their trip !
threads can continue to take place at any point during the travels, but now is a good time to be aware of where your threads are timeline wise and that if you are focusing on any threads beyond the edge of the mander river, the attack is imminent or just occurred !
if there are certain closed threads you’d like to write during the attack, you are free to do so, though any open threads mentioning the attack should take place after the fact.
