the past three months have been filled with blissful a peace as the nobles of the known world returned to their homes and spent their time with their loved ones. it has been a time of great joy and a renewed sense of purpose as alliances are secured in the form of betrothals and weddings, and some are broken for the betterment of their people. healing from the loss and trauma of the past almost six months hasn’t been easy, and perhaps it never will be, but moving on and settling into the next part of their lives is all they can do. most would’ve like their time apart to be longer, and some likely would’ve preferred not to have to be confined together all over again, though slowly but surely the ravens arrive: invitations to a wedding at the predicted start of summer. the marriage of dorne’s ruling prince, oberyn martell, to his paramour and mother of his children, vevienne dayne, promises to be nothing short of a grand affair, and they plan for everyone to witness it.

nobles will begin arriving to dorne after three months apart for the wedding of the ruling prince and future ruling princess of dorne, and will be staying in the capital of sunspear.
invitations were sent out about a month - a month and a half prior to ensure guests had adequate travel time and arrangements to the south.
upon their arrival, there will be a few days leading up to the wedding to assure everyone arrives and has the opportunity to settle in and take in sunspear. celebrations have been in full swing throughout the city for several days now !
as of the time arc ii begins ( july 15, 12pm est ), we will be diving straight into our wedding event, meaning that nobles have arrived and have spent a few days settling into dorne before this. the event will go from the start of arc ii and last until sunday, july 31 @ 11:59pm est . all threads, during this time, should be event focused, though no new ones should be posted after the event ends .

the first spring after a long winter is always one to celebrate, a time when the lands have finally begun to recover from their time buried beneath the snow and the air grows warm with the promise of a fruitful season. this year, the season has already begun as the lands of the reach fill with pops of color and the fields and orchards grow ripe with some of the freshest fruits and vegetables in all the land. every spring, highgarden celebrates this a ten day festival ‘ the festival of the spring bloom, ’ giving residents ( and now visitors ) the opportunity to enjoy beautiful flowers beyond the castle gardens, relish is local delicacies, drink, and be merry to their hearts content. even with everything going on, scouting parties still frequent for the bandits that ambushed them weeks ago and several still recovering from losses or injuries, the ruling lord refuses to let a beautiful tradition succumb to the horrors of the world around them. preparations have been going for the past couple weeks since the engagement ball, and now guests will get to appreciate a whole new side of highgarden.

as mentioned above, this event takes place roughly two weeks after the events of the engagement ball, a time likely filled with peace, scouting parties, and personal agendas.
in character, the event will occur over a ten - day period, celebrations and activities taking place from sun up till sun down and even far beyond that. there is a perimeter just beyond the three walls of highgarden that guests are free to roam to their hearts content.
in the outer ring, the maze will be as open as it always is to any soul daring enough to attempt to make it through ( or any couple eager to find a moment alone ). guests are also invited to enter the older towers in this ring to get a better view of the endless fields of flowers and orchards.
in the middle ring is where you’ll find all the merchants selling bouquets, freshly picked fruits and vegetables, and a plethora of foods made with them for you to savor the tastes of the reach. as with any market, it’s also a great opportunity to peruse and purchase wares such as swords, gowns, fabrics, etc.
the castle itself lies in the inner ring, doors and windows open from morning till night to allow the warm spring breeze to enter the halls, carrying with it the sweet scents of the city. all parts of the castle remain open to its guests, including the fountains and personal tyrell gardens and, if you ask nicely, access to their wine cellars.
beyond the walls are fields upon fields of flowers in full bloom, able to be walked through ( or get lost in ) at one’s leisure; from golden roses to tulips to bundles of hyacinth and more, they are full of radiant colors. guests are encouraged to pick flowers and, it is often said to bring good luck if one gifts flowers to one they love or plan to court during the festival. also beyond the walls are orchards full of the ripest fruits of the season, and it’s not uncommon to go through and pick a few to taste for oneself. trees full of fireplums and peaches, fields of strawberries and melons, all to be enjoyed by the public. small pleasure boats will also be available for quiet trips down the mander, making them perfect for romantic rendezvous, afternoon picnics, or just some time away from everyone else.
on day 5 there will be a jousting tourney in the sweeping fields behind the gardens in the inner ring, stands set up and by the end of it, one valiant winner. at the end of the tourney, the winner will have the ability to crown someone as the queen of love and beauty, often a declaration of love or courtship, crowned with a wreath of flowers and the victory dedicated to them.

the journey to highgarden was not without grief, not the simple nor straightforward journey they’d hoped it to be. the bandit attack made tensions rise even farther, and while the tyrells arrange for their assailants to be swiftly taken care of, many still reel from the losses and injuries of their loved ones. the last leg of the trip is one made with much haste, no one eager to remain on the road any longer than they had to, and too right they were for that. what were their options, after all ? flee to their own homes and be considered traitors to the crown, or hope for safety in numbers during their travels ? neither seemed ideal, but if they wished to have answers and revenge, they wouldn’t get it by making a point of leaving.
arriving to highgarden, discussions immediately begin about the bandits, accusations thrown and search parties sent out. a little over a week passes when the dowager lady makes the announcement, that they will be celebrating not only the engagement of her daughter, vareena tyrell to matteo cerwyn, but also that of prince rhaegar targaryen to reila cerwyn, after being made aware of their own engagement. the celebrations be the perfect way for their guests to enjoy all the finery that highgarden has to offer, and will be a great time to strengthen whatever political alliances may be brewing. now, more than ever, it is important to determine who is your friend, and who is your enemy. admire the beauty of the roses, but do not dare to forget the thorns that lie beneath.

the days following the execution pass slowly, halls filled with whispers and a lingering sense of dread. no one can deny that there is relief that there is no longer a traitor amongst their midst, but many have to wonder if he truly acted alone. and, if he did not, who among them could be capable of such violent acts ? it causes a familiar unease to settle upon king’s landing, no matter how much they attempt to will it away, and though the queen actively does her best to confirm the validity of his claims, there is only so much she can do. fealty is sworn again, and while some betrothals crumble in the face of everything going on, others are made. and some, some are made permanent.

it’s hard to predict when the wanderers would next align in the sky, even with the keenness of each maester in king’s landing, but there was no denying that the time was coming soon. approaching as if in final goodbye to the terrible winter that had passed. though considered a point of celebration in the years past, it’s been nearly twenty years since all seven aligned above king’s landing, some never having seen phenomenon in their lifetime, and some only catching mere glimpses of it. perhaps it’s why, with enough coaxing of their king and promises of a morale boost with everything else going on, a festival is arranged in honor of what may be a once in a lifetime event. the southerners that call king’s landing home do not take such an event lightly, and the planning is as quick as it is thorough, arranging for the markets to pick up in full swing, plus a number of activities to fill the week of its arrival. while it’s impossible to forget the tragedy of the past few weeks, there is no denying that the festivities come as a welcome distraction. one thing is for certain: it will be a celebration to die for.

in character, the festival / festival activities will occur over a ten - day period, most of which will take place in early afternoon to late evening, times at when the stars and night sky are most visible. any curfew has been temporarily lifted to ensure guest get the most enjoyment possible.
the main streets of king’s landing have all been closed off and market stalls and shop doors have been reopened with renewed vigor. notable markets and shops include blacksmiths, butchers, cobblers, bakers, and the like showcasing their finest wares and creations for a bit of coin. alehouses, taverns, inns, and brothels alike are all open to the public’s enjoyment, as well.
with the walls of king’s landing remaining closed for visitors and to leaving, the old dragon pit has been turned into a tourney ground, with two tourneys being held on days three and seven.
from fishmonger’s square, one may look out over the harbor and watch ( or participate ) in the small boat races that will take place on day eight from the edge of king’s landing to the other side of the water where the king’s road continues. the winner will be rewarded with a small bag of gold to spend as they please.
though these are just a handful of activities and places that you are free to wander, all of king’s landing within the walls remains accessible to guests. here’s a list of possible locations you can use in your threads, but feel free to make up the names of places & locations as you’d like !
there will be heavy guard activity throughout the streets and wall, the city watch on just as high alert, and the king has offered a strict warning that any funny business will not be treated lightly.

the king’s invitation spread far and wide, each great house and its vassals invited to witness the coronation of the next targaryen king, mere weeks since king aerys iii took his last breath. king’s landing is renewed in its splendor, a sight to behold by any traveler through the crownlands, and, for the first time since aerys iii’s coronation and the rebuilding of the capital commenced, the red keep has opened its doors to the public once more. but before the new king and queen of the southern king can be coronated, a week’s worth of celebrations will take place to welcome in travelers from far and wides, the street’s of king’s landing bustling with merchants and traders, shops open hoping to make some coin and taverns filled with more drink than they’d ever know what to do with. while final preparations take place, guests are encouraged to indulge in all the finery that the south has to offer.

as the guests settle in, there’s a buzz that fills the air, excitement at what’s to come. the days of tourneys and art, whispers shared behind closed doors and false niceties shared among nobles, blur together before long. with enough drink, it was hard to blame them. still, there is nothing more exciting than what some might consider the apex of their visit : the eve of the king’s coronation. a ball of the grandest scale has been planned, with all of the finest foods and drink one could imagine and then some. guests are asked to don their very best, drink to their hearts content, and enjoy the festivities late into the evening. but be sure to get enough rest, for first thing in the morning, the king and queen will be crowned and the gods will flip their coins one way or another.
