Typeface inspiration for our record Through That Door. The Best of John Fahey 1959-1977. For awhile, it was hanging on the wall in the mixing room at The Teen Arena (Rochester, NH where we make our records). Searched for months & months online for the particular typeface, couldn’t find it anywhere. Even emailed the graphic designer of the Fahey record (ended up being the designer of the reissue). Pretty much gave up until one night, hanging out with Tyler Quist (F.C. multi-instrumentalist) surfing YouTube & prompting him to play themes from Sega's Sonic the Hedgehog 2 on one of his many vintage synthesizers for a laugh, I discovered the level screens for that game used the exact fucking font I’d been searching for for months (slight difference on the A’s). Quick Google search for “Sonic 2 font” brought me to a fan site with an easy download of the typeface, apparently simply called ‘Gaslight.’ Set it up with Peet’s artwork & that was that.
