Throw net fishing 🐟
Mending net
Getting schooled.
The slow trickle of beach photos continues... One of the great things about beach vacations is the endless number of activities the water in and around the ocean offer. We swim, boat, tube, skimboard and dabble in several types of fishing. All of the fishing we do is off the dock on the back of the house, in the fertile waters of the marshes adjacent to the intracoastal waterway. Up until this year, the favorite fishing pasttime had involved nothing more than some twine, a chicken leg and a net to scoop out your crabby loot. This year Poppy Joe picked up a pint sized casting net for the pint sized David (as apposed to the keg sized David). After a few lessons and a lot of practicing, I think I know who I want to give me lessons next year. My father is known far and wide in Brunswick county for being an angler amongst anglers and a for handling a casting net like a webbed extension of his arm. That is a bold face lie, but he does wield a mean net, and little David was wise to seek his council when looking to venture out on his own. A couple of days ago David mad the ultimate catch. Normally, a casting net is used to catch things that you use to catch things...minnows, shimps, cans, old bottles and other things people decide to discard in the marsh in favor of the back of their pickup. David decided to truly hone in his skills and nabbed a 16 inch flounder. The student has become the master. I can't wait to get my lesson! Photo courtesy of my sister.
