JJK WIP - The Sky Is Falling
“Fuck it,” Uro says. “There’s a curse user cell forming in the West Coast of the United States. Seattle area. Quick hop and skip back to the homeland. You want something to kill, burnt girl, that’s my tip to you. The water guy you just killed? He’s one of them. Out here hunting me like the ocean meeting sky would ever do shit. They have a bead on you new-blood sorcerers.”
“There are curse users hunting us? Me and mine?” Maki pauses to really consider the audacity. “They know we killed Sukuna, right?”
“A small army killed Sukuna and Gojo—the real hitter—is dead, little girl. Idiots think that means they have a shot at you individually.”
“But you know better?”
“I know what you are, Zenin, and I know your partner. He’s a soft touch but not that soft. Sendai taught me that much and I didn’t come back from the fucking dead just to die again. Consider this my good deed.”
“I didn’t say you and I were good, Uro. You’re still on my list.”
Uro makes a noise of disgust. “God. This is what I get….” The sky shivers and surges, the melting clouds bloating. Uro’s voice comes like a soft thunder from all directions: “You’re hitting your limit, aren’t you?”
“What?”
“You have all that fucking power and nowhere good to put it, right? Boiling you from the inside out. The overwhelming aggression and ego. So typical.” Rage warps the assassin’s voice, the sky cracking. “You killed a calamity and what’s left to do but become one?”
“Wow. You get that from a fortune cookie?”
“You sure you didn’t kill Okkotsu? You seem like the kind that could get the drop on him.”
Like Rika accusing her of eating her twin sister, Uro accusing her of murdering Yuta should fall so far beyond the pale it means nothing. Laughable nonsense. Instead, part of Maki's brain—quiet for two years of romantic entanglement—leans in her ear and recites for her the exact approach, methodology, and weapon she would need to kill him in their shared bed. It vividly models out the dismemberments required—the most efficient way to take Yuta's handsome head off.
She wouldn’t make the same mistakes as Toji Zenin did with Gojo.
She’d finish the—
Then Uro unravels and sky and hits her with it.
