"How many times are you going to let this fucker cheat on you?” Eddie asked, letting himself into Richie’s bedroom. Richie turned around in his desk seat, blinking in surprise.

“Oh yeah okay.” Bill cleared his throat awkwardly. “We agreed on... g-g-ent-gently - but sure that works, too, Ed.”

Eddie paid no mind, arms crossed and glaring at Richie. Richie’s cheeks turned pink and he refused to meet Eddie’s gaze.

“It’s not that bad.” Richie said softly. “It’s just... a parties and shit. He’s not like... having other relationships. It’s stupid hook ups, he-”

“Cheats on you almost every weekend.” Eddie said slowly, stomping into the room while Bill hovered in the doorway. He grabbed the pictures of Richie and his boyfriend from the wall and threw it to the ground.

“Hey!” Richie shouted, jumping up to his feet. “What the fuck, Eddie!?!”

Richie had started Connor Doyle nearly seven months earlier, and he hadn’t been loyal to him for a single day of the relationship. Everybody in the school knew, the Losers all knew, Richie knew. Richie heard the rumours, had never even tried to deny them, but had never confronted Connor about them either. Had simply chosen to ignore the major issues. And the Losers had had enough.

“You’re done with this guy.” Eddie said sharply. “He’s a scum bag. A piece of shit. Actual human garbage! What do you even see in him?”

“He’s-” Richie opened his mouth then slowly closed it once more. His brow furrowed and he frowned. Eddie raised his eyebrows and Richie sighed. “I don’t know. He asked me out. Nobody else had ever liked me before.”

Eddie’s heart sunk. “Richie, you have to know that’s not true.”

Richie started shaking his head and Eddie quickly walked forward to take his face in his hands. He looked Richie in the eye. “You have to know that’s not true.”

Richie swallowed visibly. He and Eddie kept unwavering eye contact until Bill cleared his throat loudly.

“So, what now?”

Eddie smirked.

The crowds of students all parted as Connor made his way into the school the next morning. The halls were almost ringing with silence, outside of the occasional whispers that came from the groups of the student body.

Richie stood beside Connor’s locker, wearing the brightest red print shirt he could find in his locker and flicking a lighter. Smoking was a habit that Connor had enforced Richie to quit when they’d started dating (”You taste you disgusting, I won’t kiss you if you’ve smoked, Richard.”) and the clothes had been forced out as well. (”What do you need to draw attention to yourself for? You already have me.”)

“Hey.” Richie grinned, stepping away from locker to reveal the bright red writing behind.

C H E A T E R.

Connor’s mouth dropped open, and he looked around at the all the student body around him. Every student quickly averted their eyes from him, but not a single person moved away. Connor turned back to his boyfriend. “Richard...”

“Don’t call me that.” Richie said. “I hate being called that. And I think you know it.”  Richie stepped closer and patted Connor’s cheek. “It’s been fun, dude. Well... no it hasn’t. But you know that, too. I’m sure I don’t have to tell you that it’s over.”

Connor stared blank faced at Richie. “You- You can’t break up with me. You- you’re-”

“Oh, I am, though.” Richie laughed. “Weird. Guess I can.”

Richie patted Connor’s face a little bit harder, causing his head to jerk slightly, then walked away. He draped an arm around Eddie’s shoulder to guide them down the halls, flipping Connor off over his shoulder as he left.
