I was wondering about the Military ranks. Are they like Army ranks in the US Military?
Ah! Good question! Ranks are going to a combination of US Air Force and Navy, just to keep things sort of simple. Probably the best we can equate it to would be the Battlestar Galactica ranking system.
I was wondering, and it is probably a stupid question, but are people on earth playable? Or is it all taking place on the ships and the places they land?

People on Earth will not be playable, as the Fleet has no contact with Earth/no means of getting back to it. Gameplay’s going to take place on the ships within the Fleet and on the planets they’re exploring.
