It’s #thursday3! Here are three things about right now: 1. I snapped this selfie on Tuesday while I was getting numb in the dentist chair for my first ever filling. And it wasn’t even for a cavity! I had a tiny crack in my back molar that is apparently very normal but feels too much like a sign that I’m at the age where everything starts falling apart. 😝 I consider myself very lucky to have needed as little dental work as I have had as an adult, but thanks to some residual childhood dentist-related trauma, this was a pretty un-fun experience. Feeling brave for getting through it. 2. I’m not sure how we blinked and ended up in June, but it’s here, which means that #scrappychristmasinjuly is right around the corner! My album is done early this year (!!!), but I’m looking forward to sharing my pages and seeing what everyone else is working on. 3. We’ve been watching old episodes of King of the Hill lately, and I’m having fun honing my Bobby Hill impression. Sometimes, I dream about the life I missed out on as a cartoon voice actor. Oh gosh, it's Thursday and I haven't posted on here in a while. I took some new "selfie" photos of myself recently, so I'll do a little #thursday3 and share a few things... ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ✩ My contract with Little Island ends this month and while I’m both sad to be leaving and bummed I won’t have a job, I’m looking forward to all the time I have to make myself create. And I say “make myself” because procrastination is a thing and enemy to us all, and if I’m not actively getting myself to create things, I just don’t. So here’s to actively creating and hopefully finally getting a lot of ideas out into the world. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ✩ Speaking of ideas…I’ve launched my very first one recently. I made a Patreon-like membership over on my website where I’ll be sharing some exclusive content each month. My monthly printables are back and will be exclusive for my patrons. I’m both excited and nervous about this ongoing project, but I’ve been wanting to try this out for a while now, so what better time than now to do so! I have a chatty video up on my Youtube channel today and I liked the thumbnail image so much–it's literally a screenshot from the video–that I'm using it for my #thursday3.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ✩ I'm currently happily playing in these two journals that I'm holding up. One is my #unravelingjournal and the other is what I'm now calling my "touchstones" journal, because it's for the "Here: Touchstones" class with Liz Lamoreux that I'm currently taking.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ✩ My guy got me a Fujifilm Instax SQ6 and I can't wait to play around with it, esp. this summer! It's a step up from my old blue Mini Instax 8 and it takes the square photos instead of the card sized ones! I can also turn off the flash and take double exposures! Maybe if I get real good at taking these analog photos, I might share my favorites here too.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ✩ Lastly, it's my birthday today. Just wanted to pop in and say hello to some new followers! Hi! Hello! Welcome! Also, I figured it would be fitting to do a #thursday3 today too. So here are three things happening in my world.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ✩ I'm currently on a social hiatus. I know I'm posting this today, but what I mean is that I'm taking a break from creating to share...cause I fall into that trap sometimes. So I've been creating in my journals and not filming them or anything. I plan on sharing my pages, but I'm not stressing when. I'm totally still around, but generally being lowkey and quietly indulging other people's art.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ✩ If you remember a few posts back, my little Joey hasn't been feeling too well lately. Initially we thought it was canine cognitive decline as told by our vet, but he was still being odd and we weren't positive on that diagnosis. Anyway, he's been having a bad tummy recently, so we decided to take him to the vet again. Our vet was booked though, so we took him to their sister vet, who thinks he may actually have Cushing's disease. This diagnosis seems to make more sense, so we did some blood tests. We took x-rays on his tummy though too just to rule out other things, but we're still waiting for the radiologist report. There are more tests to be done–like we just submitted his urine–but before the REALLY expensive tests, our new vet wants to see what the radiologist says first. Anyway, I know this isn't about me, but it's something that's been happening around these parts. I just want my happy little boy back honestly. It's been sad to see him so sad.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ✩ I've been on a Disney art kick recently. Been binging everything @jameslukeburkecreative has created in his Disney art journals and am totally itching to start my own Disney art journal. I actually bought a few old Disneyish books–like Peter Pan, Winnie-the-Pooh, and a Bambi picture book–to make into journals. Inspired by @kutovakika for this pic. I took this originally for my creative self portrait series, but I'm not liking how I edited it too much, so I never used it for that. But I think it's fitting for a #thursday3 pic this week!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ✩ I'm currently transitioning my deconstructed unraveling journal into a new bound journal I made recently. The more I worked in that deconstructed journal, the more it didn't seem to resonate with me. I didn't like working in it. So I've switched over to a brand new A6 journal I made using Nazy's Artist in Bloom course. It's a Bloom book but the construction is a little bit different and I'm already loving it.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ✩ I finally found an online artist tip jar that's Patreon without being Patreon and it makes me so happy! Hey. Hi. Hello lovelies! It's Thursday--I literally just realized this, so please forgive me, I'm still adjusting--which means it's #thursday3...⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ☆ I've been home for four days now since my Paris/Brussels/Bruges trip and I'm still adjusting, which is why I've been quiet online. I had a few things I needed to sort out--myself included--before I jumped into everything else, plus work. My body is still on a weird time schedule, but for once I'm not really complaining. I've been getting up early in the mornings (and crashing hard late evenings), and I'm not a morning person at all (night owl all the way!). But it's been helpful in getting stuff done.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ☆ Please forgive me if my February printable is late this coming month. I literally have not created it yet. I've got a folder full of images to collage together, but I just haven't gotten around to doing it yet. Tonight or tomorrow I'm going to start for sure.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ☆ I've got a few videos coming soon of my trip if I can get around to editing them. So this is the type of test photo I take when trying to set my camera to the appropriate settings for an impromptu photo shoot in front of my mint teal wall cause the lighting (and my hair) was good...I wasn’t expecting it to come out this good! 🤣 so in the spirit of the selfie, it’s #thursday3 time...⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ☆ I’m at work counting down the time until I’m home and packing for my flight to France tomorrow (who am I kidding? I'm already packed). I haven’t been on a plane in over a year and I find myself a bit anxious! I spent so much time on a plane the last decade, I thought I’d be over my fear of flying. But I suppose when there’s such a long gap between flights it comes creeping back.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ☆ I’ve got a laundry list of projects I’d like to begin that I’ve been putting off until I finished up some old (or in progress) projects. And now that those are done, I’m leaving for a week, so here’s to diving into them when I get back! My projects include: creating my scrap therapy album, making a recipe journal, beginning my daily gratitude journaling, beginning my mixed media exploration a la Jane Davenport/Tamara Laporte (I bought both of their books), and beginning my weekly self portraiture experiment. (There’s a few other things too, but I’ll begin with these for now.)⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ☆ If you've been to Paris, Brussels, and/or Bruges, please share some recommendations if you have any cool places I should visit/see. Hey. Hi. Hello. It’s #thursday3 so I decided to share this selfie with my journal I took ages ago for Get Messy but never shared here. (There goes that online real-time illusion 😂). I love this spread btw. It’s so simple. Anyway, here are some things that have been weighing heavily on my mind:⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ☆ My word and intentions for next year. Usually by this time of the year, I have a clear-ish idea of what my "One Little Word" is for the following year and what my general intentions are. But this year--right now--I'm actually at a bit of a loss. I haven't a clue where I'm headed--or really, where I want to be heading. I lack a heading--I'm headless. 😂 But all jokes aside, I'm slightly annoyed by this…slightly.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ☆ Speaking of heading, I'm in that weird place where I'm not sure what it is that I want in life anymore. To be fair, I've spent my entire rational thinking life trying to find out who I am, what I want to be, and how I want to live. To be honest, I don't think I'll ever fully figure it out. I have this unrestrained passion for many things but at the same time long for something much greater than life. I don't know how else to explain it, so I hope that makes sense.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ☆ On the bright side however, I think I'm going to start a selfie challenge for myself. I have this idea—it's a wild one, but I'm full of them—of taking a selfie a week—probably for Thursday 3—but filming the process of creating that selfie and creating some sort of video log of it. I'll definitely have to challenge myself to make these videos—and the photo—artistic and interesting--poetic even.
