#2 Thùy Dương

So, like on the show, Thuy Duong ends as my runner-up. Definitely a placement she should be proud of after placing 9th in her original cycle. I must say, she was the break-out start this cycle. Not only did she consistently produce amazing photographs, she also emerged as the GIF queen of the cycle for being a straight up savage. I just love this girl, and she would’ve been my personal pick to win if I’m honest, but since her and Kim have the same call-out average, I can’t be mad. What I love about her portfolio, is her improvement. She started off good, don’t get me wrong (receiving 2 VERY close SCO’s for her music video and snake shoot) and consistently placing in my top 5 - but then, around week 9, something just clicked for her; as she went on a FCO streak, landing her in the finale. Now you might ask why I have her as number 2 when I love her this much? Well, I just slightly prefer Kim Dung’s look, that’s all. Anyways, let’s get back to something I mentioned earlier; her being the GIF queen. Yes, this girl was hilarious. From forcing the other girls to give her foot massages and running the house, to literally smashing a huge book in a Nguyen Hop’s face (which she surprisingly did not get disqualified for), she was hilarious. A great portfolio and personality lands her at number 2.

Post show she’s been doing well for herself, not as well as Kim Dung or Cha Mi, but well. She’s done various lookbooks for M, and other unspecified brands. She’s also shot a cover for Dep magazine, which is gorgeous as always. Her biggest accomplishment, though, would be her work for IVY Moda. IVY Moda was actually the sponsor for the show, and the client for multiple shoots - so her walking for the brand multiple times and appearing in it’s SS18 ad post show, means they must’ve loved her. However, I think she is past her prime at this point, being 27, so I’m not expecting much work in the future.

#1 Thùy Dương

So even though Kim Dung technically has my favorite shot, I’m giving it to Thuy Duong because this is the more exciting shot. This is SO couture, her creativity really shines through. Even though this is a beauty shoot, she’s modelling head to toe and is using her whole body. Her hands look so graceful and not awkward like Thien Trang’s at all, even though they’re positioned in generally awkward positions. The blue makeup on her forehead looks like a reflection of the water, and that makes the whole thing connected and cohesive. This is also one of the best angles I’ve seen of her, and her teeth are just gorgeous! I’m so proud of her, she’s improved so much these last weeks!

#1 Thùy Dương

Finally Thuy Duong snatches my FCO, after being very close multiple times. There really wasn’t much of a contest this week, her picture is just above the rest! She does everything a model should do, show the clothes (By turning her body towards the camera she shows the pattern on her dress), look great (I mean look at her!), and interact with her surroundings (She got the best interaction with her male model by far)! The story this picture tells is incredible, you sense real romance when you look at it, and that’s what I wanted from this shoot! Also, her profile is gorgeous, she should use it more often! She deservedly got the FCO from the show ánd from me!

#4 Thùy Dương

Again, a FCO worthy shot from Thuy Duong. She’s really been on fire these last couple of weeks! I really love this shot, she probably got the second best styling (after Kim Dung of course), and it really helps her stand out! The pastel theme goes well with the kind of ethereal pose, but what the pose most reminds me of is like a pupper master, but a really high fashion one. I really love the whole concept of that on it’s own! I love the angles she’s making with her legs as well, but I wish she’d had more intensity in her eyes, it’s kind of dead when you really zoom in.. Anyways, a great shot!

#3 Thuy Duong (left)

I had a very hard time ranking the top 3 shots this week, as I find each one of them appealing in a different way. For Thuy Duong’s shot, I love how intense the face is, whilst not looking uncomfortable or stiff because of the upside down pose. Her skin looks amazing here and I love the accentuated collarbones for some reason, they make her neck look longer. Also, she looks so tall, especially since she normally looks short. The only reason she places below Kim Dung and Thien Trang is because she’s not interacting with her partner as much, which is quite a crucial part of this week’s brief. Anyways, she’s been killing these last couple of weeks! I can’t wait to finally give her a FCO, because I expect her to bring it even more these coming weeks.

#6 Thùy Dương

The things that are wrong with this picture aren’t really her fault, as I dislike how she’s completely being swallowed by the water and the way the ladder is cropped here (it looks weird and it throws me off). Besides that, I like what she’s bringing here. I love her face here and how sensual-ish it looks. I also like the simplicity of the pose, because it sells the outfit without overshadowing it. It also great to note that her toes are kind of pointed because it makes her look taller. I wish they had thrown the water more strategically, as it would’ve elevated the shot so much. It does look like a real fashion editorial though, and I appreciate that. I don’t have much more to say about this shot.

#2 Thùy Dương

And she gets another SCO from me, but this could’ve easily been the FCO, it’s just a matter of personal preference. The only thing I dislike here is the right hand which is kind of awkwardly positioned, grabbing the air. As for the rest of the shot, it’s flawless. This is the best her face has looked in this competition, and she looks so young (mind you, this girl is 27). She also photographs really tall here, which seems to be a recurring theme this week. I love how that one snake is wrapping around her leg and how that same snake is also making that cool shape above her head, it really frames the shot. This girl is obviously going overseas with her portfolio thus far, and she’s one of my bets for the top 3 now that Thùy Trâm was eliminated this week.

I love the 80′s vibe I get from this video, it’s very funky and it makes her stand out. The curly hair and bodysuit add to that vibe as well. I love the little dance walk she did when she entered the frame and how she exited it as well. At 0:04 she does one of my favorite moves in the entire one shot video, where she gives the suprised look and puts her hand in front of her mouth twice, that was so campy it works. I also love the frames where she’s whipping her hair at 0:09, she looks stunning there and it works as individual still shots as well. She is definitely a lock in for the top 5 or 6 based on her past performance and work this week.
