Star Wars & Queen

Yes, two of my favorite things in the world! They have surprisingly a lot of things in common!

The video for the Queen song "Calling All Girls" is based on the movie THX-1138, George Lucas' first film.

The video for Radio Gaga is based on the decor of the 1927 German movie Metropolis, which was a big inspiration behind Star Wars, especially C-3PO's design.

In 1980, Queen created the soundtrack for the Flash Gordon movie, which was based on the 30s serial. George Lucas wanted to make a Flash Gordon movie, but was denied so he made Star Wars instead, his own Flash Gordon.

In the song Bicycle Race, the lyrics say: "Jaws was never my scene and I don't like Star Wars", Freddie Mercury and Brian May actually liked Star Wars.

George Lucas had to ask Freddie Mercury to stop riding on Darth Vader's shoulders during concerts in the 80s.
