it was a little over a month until the autumnal solstice marked another year where thymae resided far away from the moors , his home . the rhythm of kairos , the rich infusion of everyone who settled here , was still something impossible for thymae to get used to but the dryad refused to believe he was making the wrong choice by staying here , as opposed to lingering amongst the other dryads and nymphs in the moors . there was no genuine error for turning away and living amongst others not of their kind , but it was certainly frowned upon - and as the gods and fates seemed to stir and rustle in the distance , thymae couldn't help but feel he was on the correct path to whatever torrent and fury of the gods could be upon them next .
he'd be too quiet , and thymae was often not at a lack for words , and as such the dryad felt insistent on filling the gaps of silence that he'd wrought here . hero was still new enough , but the other was a hunter , a long - established one and that alone kept thymae here on the presumption that their budding friendship was absolutely crucial .
" in about a month it'll be the autumn equinox , " it comes out of the blue , but his lively eyes flicker over to hero , smiling as though he's said something completely revolutionary . " normally , we'd dress up our trees , grant gifts to artemis and demeter , " yet this year , much akin to the last quarter century , the gods were strangely quiet . " i haven't done any of that since i moved here , i wonder what that says of me . " thymae eventually shrugged simply as though it was a thought to ponder for another day. " do hunters have traditions . do you have anyone you even do all this .... slaying for ? "
he eyed hero curiously , though his eyes were alight with that typical nymph mischief as though he was waiting to decide if there was a wrong or right answer here for a hunter and their duties .
