THYME ON 43 RD JAPANESE GARDENS
One of the most outstanding features of this incredible Japanese Garden is its magnificent waterfall. It was an immense undertaking which required over 50 tons of poured concrete for its foundation alone, which was needed to support all the boulders, stones, trees, plants & the water it contains.
The sparkling water cascades down from the top into 4 descending ponds, pooling in each before spilling over and down into the pond below it, which then empties into a larger pond where the brightly coloured koi fish are swimming back and forth.
The waterfall has a very natural west coast appearance which makes you feel as if this is something you have just stumbled upon, while out hiking in the local Coastal Mountains that wrap around Vancouver & the Fraser Valley.
Throughout the length of the gardens a babbling brook flows down over moss covered rocks and pebbles. A stone bridge crosses over the midpoint of the stream to allow for easy access to the other side. Further downstream a beautiful authentic hand crafted Japanese Bridge crosses over the stream which empties out into a little lily filled pond.
Where ever you turn in this stunning garden, the soft, melodious sound of moving water whispers in the air all around you. Asian antique bronze cooking pots or stone basins being filled with running water poured out from authentic hand crafted Japanese bamboo water spouts or stone water fountains are found here and there throughout the gardens.
