a dude i know has tried to get me to play them but i never did because apparently the first two play like ass on mouse+keyboard. the 3rd one he says is fine tho. anyway ignore this comment if you have a controller lol.
i play w/ mouse & keyboard, so thanks for the heads up! if the earlier games feel clunky to play on pc, i’d rather start w/ the third game and work my way from there. like i already know that i’m gonna i end up dying a million times, but i’d rather not have to deal w/ difficult bosses and annoying gameplay lmao

The lore in the first games are a bit abstract to say the least. Even if you played them, you may end up having to google some lore videos to find out what was going on. Imo google a lore summary and start with D3.

id highly recommend dark souls 1. dark souls 2 is a good RPG but a bad dark souls game if that makes sense. but honestly you could probably just jump into dark souls 3 and start from there, the lore only really makes sense if you actually read all the item descriptions and stuff anyway.
what i usually do after playing dark souls is watch lore videos so if you really wanna get into the lore you might wanna start on dark souls 1 to make sense of everything first.
honestly i love watching lore videos, so having to comb through a few dark souls vids definitely isn’t a bad thing in my book! my main concern w/ starting from the third game was that i’d have no idea what was going on w/ the story & the lore, but if that’s not the case i might start w/ dark souls 3 & then check out the rest if i get hooked.
