53) things you said in the dark
“honestly fuck this shit, i don’t even wanna fuckin’ try anymore.” she whines, her eyes straining at the sight of her homework in the dark. there were no candles to be lit, and at the perfect timing and coincidence, the lights go out due to a power outage. she lets out a frustrated sigh, ruffling her dark locks in an aggravating matter. lithe fingers move throughout the nourished hair, her forehead feeling the ice-cold temperature of the metal part of her desk that was placed on the edge for whatever reason. the style? whatever it was, it wasn’t the biggest predicament that she was facing. the fact that her work was due in a few hours and her laptop was dying during the power outage was an obstacle to her education. why couldn’t the power outage happen the next night?
“stupid piece of shit.. fuckin’.. cunt ass..” a sailor’s mouth indeed. she picked it up from the kids that hung around her, calling her names she wished to have never heard but has now added a few words to her vocabulary. although they weren’t literary terms, she used them to the best of her ability to vent her frustration out. it works, and studies showed... something she just happened to forget about cussing. the explicit words helped released either endorphins or oxytocin-- some kind of that sort. they were in the same type of category, hyejung just couldn’t think straight as she stressed over work that was due in a limited amount of time. taking a deep breath, her back slides against the frame of the chair while eyes look up at the ceiling. although pitch black, there were still hints of pictures that played in her mind during that moment. “sometimes i just.. is this how death feels like? maybe a coma, even..”
stuck on that thought, she delves deeper into the subconscious of her mind. or at least, she tries to. scratching the side of her head, the complex question sticks to her. maybe it wasn’t even that complex, maybe she was just making it difficult on herself. a simple ‘yes’ or ‘no’ still wouldn’t satisfy hyejung, though. she’s heard that people can listen to everything said to her, even when unconscious in a coma. sort of like.. lucid dreaming, without the whole dreaming part. so would she just wallow in the darkness for however long her coma would deem to be? she wanted to find out one day, even if she wasn’t really up for the experience.
“crazy shit.”
