Fans can get money back if they wish to not attend this year's event

Since its inception, fans have comprised the very core of Emerald City Comic Con and all of Reedpop. We speak daily (and at great length!) about how to always put our fans first in everything we do. The evolving situation with the COVID-19 virus and developments in and around the city of Seaמּle have most certainly been at the forefront of our minds as Emerald City Comic Con approaches. Our customer base is central to all Reedpop decisions, and this scenario is no different. We value all of your voices and the spectrum of feedback that we have been receiving. Knowing that no two fans are alike, we have decided to make an exception to our no refunds ticket policy for our fans who are unable or uncomfortable aמּending Emerald City Comic Con in light of current events. 

We here at Reedpop remain dedicated to running Emerald City Comic Con but understand that not everyone will be comfortable with that decision; if you wish to forgo aמּending this year’s edition of Emerald City Comic Con, we absolutely respect your wishes and will refund your ticket purchase (details on just how to do this will be on our website).

Re: Refunds from Ticketmaster for cancelled/ postponed shows

According to details confirmed over the weekend, Ticketmaster is now modifying its policies for approximately 20,000 postponed shows that run through July of 2020. For shows slated to start on August 1st, 2020 or afterward, Live Nation is taking a wait-and-see attitude.

Starting May 1st, fans holding tickets to postponed shows will be allowed to request a refund. Alternatively, fans can simply hold the tickets and attend the postponed date, though any requests for refunds must be completed in May — or, more technically, a 30-day window.

Additionally, Ticketmaster will allow ticket-holders to convert the face value of their tickets into a 150% credit towards a future show. Additionally, tickets can be donated to benefit health care workers in the United States, with Live Nation matching the dollar value.

Earlier, Ticketmaster had quietly changed its refund policies to only include canceled shows. Everything else didn’t qualify, drawing a surge of complaints. Throughout, Ticketmaster claimed that its refund policy hadn’t been changed, though that did little to quell the unrest.

Just last week, Live Nation CEO Michael Rapino gave up his multi-million dollar salary, while other top executives took major short-term cuts. The company also secured a $120 million emergency loan structure to weather the COVID-19 crisis.

Ticketmaster’s decision will probably diffuse a federal investigation of the company. Already, members of U.S. Congress, including Representatives Katie Porter (D-CA) and Bill Pascrell (D-NJ), had been slamming the ticketing giant and threatening action.

“Ticketmaster is refusing to give refunds for indefinitely postponed shows,” Pascrell blasted on Friday. “Representative Katie Porter and I are calling on the heads of Ticketmaster and Live Nation to stop confiscating fans’ money and demanding they issue full refunds to *all* customers who request them.”

Earlier, New York State Senator James Skoufis urged New York Attorney General Letitia James to investigate Ticketmaster’s policies.

Live Nation and Ticketmaster will email ticket holders about refunds for cancelled shows starting May 1.

Much like the plan AEG is working on, there will be a 30-day window for ticketholders to request a refund with the rollout beginning 5/1. If the ticketholder takes no action, after 30 days the initial ticket is good for the event’s new date.

StubHub has continued to not issue refunds, saying the company lacks the funds to pay back customers.
