Fey fiddled with her sort braid, she hated this new house, she hated moving and she hated this town. She wanted to stay in her old house and play with her friends. "Ma why did we have to move?" the red headed five year old asked. "Because your little brother or sister will becoming soon and we needed more space" her stressed mother said while moving boxes. "Look go play out side, I say some other kids out there" her mother said.

Fey did as told and went into the garden, the grass as over grow and was almost like a forest to the little girl's eyes. She sat down on the porch and sighed. "This place sucks."

Paige needed to leave this town.  And being a twenty three year old with next to no money the only thing the blonde could so was hitch a ride.  She had been in this one spot for nearly thirty minutes.  No one wanted to keep up young girls anymore.  They all thought they would be possible undercover cops who would arrest them for helping a poor girl out.  Paige threw her arms in the air after the twentieth car drove.  She nearly kicked her suitcase but stopped herself.  On her person were a backpack and a suitcase and they had all her important stuff.  Then she decided to try again maybe someone would stop for once.

Mutuality

{Drabble inspired by and written for TickTockGoesTheTalkingClock.}

~A slow melody of a ticking remedy mindlessly pressed onward as if each sound was a louder note pushing the sun away. The afternoon fell at a pleasant pace just as it should on a chilled winter day. Time was reliable and so was the clock as it pressed onward in one way with the wooden chair’s rock. A sequence of tocking followed by finger tapped ticks settled in rhythm with Tony’s affix. An attachment to time had Tony inclined to maintain the tune of the hours passing by.~

When the sun fell away over the edge of the globe there was only one dim bulb aglow in the living room where Tony sat. The light though didn’t last long that night for the lamp was rather old, and Tony watched in ticking silence as the bulb ran out of time. In sparks, the light singed out as the room fell into shadows, and the man who rocked back and forth could only count the seconds in his mind. He was never wrong about the time of course, but now he felt alone more so than before. His voice now broke the silence as the weight of darkness caved in on where he sat, “The lights go out and I can’t be saved.”

Standing up from his chair, Tony stepped toward where he thought the window was, but upon still hearing the familiar sound of the rocking where he sat he turned to see what took his place. He no longer knew exactly where his chair was though as the persistent rocking seemed to circle his movements. How peculiar. How fascinating. How intriguing to hear the sound of a should-be stationary object move! Tony was lost now though. He didn’t know the directionality of anything anymore.

“Tides that I tried to swim against Have brought me down upon my knees.”

It seemed now that the darkness was mocking Tony’s movements as though it was humorous for someone with such an on par body clock to have a terrible mental compass. The confusion of the darkness felt though like a game as Tony let the waves of shadows crash against him all the same. The game was not quite pleasant though as Tony felt the shadows bite. But another place to be was currently surely out of sight.

“Oh I beg, I beg and plead, singing Come out of things unsaid Shoot an apple off my head and a Trouble that can’t be named A tiger’s waiting to be tamed, singing-”

Tony knew not why the ticking of the persisting talking clock propelled his voice to sing along while the wooden chair still rocked. The words they came so easy though as Tony addressed the dark, and he wondered almost gleefully if the darkness heard this spark. Like embers of a worn down flame, Tony’s voice continued all the same,

“You are-" Until interrupted by a lower sound from the solid hardwood ground, and darkness was to blame.

“You are. Confusion never stops Closing walls and ticking clocks Gonna come back and take you home I could not stop that you now know, singing-”

The Shadow paced around the Clock, his expression a frozen sneer. And in the drone of striking time he summoned fearlings near. Pitch Black had felt the madness following time like rolling marbles down the stairs and questioned whether or not this talking clock would be an easy scare. The Darkness was the Trouble who Tony could not name, but Tony felt the presence of a wild tiger’s game. A hunt, the two men thought as they walked across the floor. A hunt, the ticking clock anticipated as he listened for the tiger more. 

It was a dare demanded of the darkness without the fear or dread when Tony sang of the apple’s placement sitting on his head. He craved adventure, craved a song that had him and misery getting along when the Walking Night stalked into the only place a monster could belong. Was Pitch Black welcome in the home of the Clock? Was Time greeting fear like a visitor? It seemed as such whilst Pitch had fussed as the rightly reconciled inquisitor.

“Come out upon my seas Cursed missed opportunities Am I a part of the cure? Or am I part of the disease? Singing-”

Tony stepped to where he presumed was the standing, looming companion with a grin on his face. The voice was a memory placed in the past where once it existed but disappeared fast. The King had returned to the home of the clock where once Tony's nightmare had him trembling to talk. Words of madness once confided to the beast who steered the shadows of a dismayed idle watch who wondered which way that he sided. And so the Clock conquered with the King’s dastardly conflict as if agreement would answer all their deep rooted inquires.

“You are, you are, you are.”

“You are, you are, you are," Pitch sang in return as if sharing the complex identity was a rare gift given only to this constant ticking entity, "And nothing else compares.”

“Oh nothing else compares.”

“And nothing else compares.”

“You are- You are

Home, home where I wanted to go.

Home, home where I wanted to go

Home, home where I wanted to go

Home, home where I wanted to go.”

Upon the King's intrusive visit, Tony marvelled this exquisite recollection of their fondness of accepted mutual bondness. Together, they are the cure. Endless time and ruthless fear. A ticking madness and a shaded eternity. Medicine to one another’s loneliness. And together they are the disease. A festering bout of uncontrolled power. Amply misguided in terms of their sanity. A reckoning mixture of their mutual terror. Two deranged fiends rediscovered the beauty in their similarities.

In the walls of endless time, Pitch Black felt sublime thinking of all the places he could go and how once again he found his home.

Thunder. A downpour. Such a sudden storm had caused PM to seek shelter, for she was weak today, having exhausted herself after fighting to stay sane, to keep the horrorterrors from dominating her again, and she couldn't really use the power the ring gave her to escape.

And, of course, the first place she simply resorted to, as it was nearest? Tony's home. Arriving there, she would simply knock and await for a response.
