Gil Scott-Heron was a pioneer of music and poetry who passed away this weekend. His writings and recordings offered sharp critiques and powerful calls to action on social injustice.
One of his most well-known pieces, “The Revolution will not be Televised” shared commentary on mass media and people power.
You can watch that and other videos with Gil Scott-Heron’s work on YouTube.
Learn more about Gil Scott-Heron and see a preview of an upcoming movie about his life and workhere.
Thank you for your poetry.

Help A Mother Out (HAMO) is dedicated to increasing access to diapers for families in need. Started by two moms (March, 2009) with an initial investment of $100, this one time diaper drive has evolved into a nationally-recognized grassroots organization raising diapers, awareness, and advocating for long term change in the social safety net. Our vision is a day when every baby has an adequate supply of diapers.
