Here’s the deal, Val had one best friend growing up and he was her whole entire world. Thick as thieves, you never really saw one without the other and that was just fine with them. They both came from elite if not wealthy families, so obligation and expectation weighed heavily on both of their shoulders. It perhaps, in a way, forged a stronger bond between the two. By the time Val was 20, she started questioning whether or not her feelings towards him were strictly platonic, and whether or not it was a mutual curiosity and crush (spoiler: it was). She wouldn’t get to find out though because two years later familial obligations got to be too much for the Witch and she ran away, disappearing to the islands where they wouldn’t find her. Her biggest regret was leaving without telling him. 9 years later, she is successful and her past is secret - until her best friend shows up. He was looking for her in the past, but whether that’s why he’s on the islands now is up to you, the point is he’s here and now they have to navigate..whatever this is.

The concept here is a childhood best friends to lovers situation so, yes, this is a romantic request, and it’s open enough for you to build it with me!
