Nymphaeus 🪷
An illustration I created last year for a charity artbook made to support Ukraine, called “Ботанічний Сад” (Botanical Garden), that celebrates the beautiful flora of Ukraine. The artwork features white Nymphaea flowers, aka waterlilies, and my most precious D&D warlock, Severin. I have made some edits since the printed version was completed, so now it's extra shiny and magical.
"After so many years of practice and searching, a day of heartbreak was the one you finally heard my intentions... you were with me. Under the veil of a dream I can finally see you. Mother... is this truly you?"
HEYO! It's been ages since I've posted any art, so it's a bit strange to come back. After a tough battle with art block, I'm finally feeling the desire to draw and find joy in it. I've been working little by little, on my own pace, but lately I've been having lots of fun.
I've been wanting to draw this specific moment of Tara's story ever since I made her. This is one of the key moments from her backstory - after the life and hopes that she knew shattering to pieces, the goddess her family worship has finally made contact. During the day, Hekate has lent her power and thus helped Tara through a pivotal moment of change, to step over the threshold that steered her fate a new direction. During the night, Hekate has finally appeared to her in a dream, acknowledging Tara and offering her power of a warlock.
I had this moment in my brain for so long and I am so glad to see it visualised (even if it's not exactly ideal). Also, I kinda like how this depiction of Hekate came out. I wanted her to appear as a triple bodied shape, veiled in darkness and shadow, so drawing that was an interesting challenge! In my lore / imagining of her, she has so many more shapes and ways to show herself, I might draw more of them at some point!!!!
I wanted to draw @regretorb's Curse of Strahd tiefling warlock (Lucky, who is on the right) with my Curse of Strahd tiefling warlock (Aros, who is on the left), in what is the average player experience in Vallaki.
Love how this one came out and it was fun as hell.
