The Holiday Switch by Tif Marcelo follows the teenage Lila Santos during her final year before college in her town’s most festive and exciting season - Christmas! She follows a strict regime to a T, hardworking student, most diligent daughter and holds a great secret. In comes Teddy, the nephew of her boss, and the guy that intercepts her plans and becomes the owner of her shiny secret. Thing is, she knows his too. 

This YA novel is wrapped with Filipino culture and a nicely curated small town slow burn romance. In fact, the plot is heavily focused on Lila and her path to truly following her heart. 

For me, the romance was really something that was unnecessary, and the friendship between Teddy and Lila would have worked out perfectly fine! The romance felt a bit rushed and I got a bit bored at the end. I started to quickly glance over pages and flip through with a long face. 

I loved Lila, I loved her secret and I loved the way she found her happiness. 

This earns a 3 and a half stars in my books. Nothing exceedingly great, but still very much an okay read.
