{WELP HERE WE GO LOOKIT ALL MY FAMILY FEELS}
01. Sun Ce is a sucker for the story as to how his parents met because they’re his parents and without them, Sun Ce’s amazing self wouldn’t exist, so when he’s far younger he asks Sun Jian (and Lady Wu!) every now and then to tell him about how the two parents met and inevitably got together. The stories make Sun Ce adhere to one thing in particular: That he would find someone he loved (and generally go after what he wanted) on his own terms. He wouldn’t need some matchmaker or some overly grand ceremony (too bad tho he was getting it either way haaaaa), just the person.
02. Sun Ce, as a Conqueror, pays homage to his long-gone father by taking the Nine-Ringed Blade into battle every now and then. Sun Ce personally has a weaponsmith craft a replica, because the original is worn and rusted over and it remains at home. Another way he pays homage to Sun Jian is by way of his new handy tiger pauldrons. Sun Jian has carried Sun Ce through battles after all the years, and because Sun Ce can no longer thank his father in person, he thanks him when he goes out to fight (and again when he returns).
03. Before Sun Ce had brothers and sisters, he amused himself by hiding under his father’s long capes. And then he would hide because he was probably avoiding some chore or some lesson. Nine times out ten though, Sun Jian was probably wearing the cape, so he had a (not-so) sneaky three year old hiding under the cape and clinging to his leg (Don’t make him do his studies dad pls). Chances are extremely high Sun Ce passed this best hiding spot onto Sun Quan, and then later on Sun Yi, Sun Kuang, and then Shangxiang.
04. Instead of asking Lady Wu, Sun Ce would always ask Sun Jian (and rather blatantly at that) when a sibling would be in the works for Sun Ce. Unfortunately, he’d ask at some of the most inopportune times.
05. Sun Ce’s knowledge, adoration, and respect for tigers stems from Sun Jian. Sun Ce takes great care in managing the tiger den at home (when he’s there), and on the occasional tiger hunt he always keeps whatever advice Sun Jian offered about the beasts at his disposal. Sun Ce will pay proper respect to the animal, and it’s undoubtedly because of Sun Jian.
06. Sun Ce has one of his father’s old capes, and while Sun Ce doesn’t wear it, he does have it on display. Originally it was hung out of reach, but upon discovering that his twins (Sun Shao and Meihua who were really young at the time) were fascinated by the old tiger printed cape, he brought it down. On occasion, he’ll catch the both of them trying to hide under it or wrap themselves in it, and he’s reminded of his own childhood. It all makes Sun Ce miss his father terribly, but he knows Sun Jian is there in some capacity, so Sun Ce isn’t sad for too long.
