Episode forty four, Tightrope. No little soviet boy, don't go into the creepy circus
Samuli Heimonen, “Silver Thread II”
acrylic & oil on canvas, 2010
I have an obsession with Tim and Dick doing acrobatics/Circus stuff together especially one thing-
Tightrope.
Mostly because of one thing so when I was a kid I did the same stuff learned how to do trapeze, silks, juggle, Diabolo, ect.
But my instructor one day did tightrope we were working on trust because of a whole other thing but she walked to one end and her wife (didn’t know that at the time but lesbian acrobats fucking badass) walked to the other then in the middle they switched which is hard as fuck to do you have to keep your balance, somewhat lean on the other and you have to rely on them moving in such a specific way. It takes training, practice, so much trust.
Tim and Dick who have trained themselves in the exact way.
Dick who moves first foot behind, Tim slightly twisting barely a second and then they are facing the other way.
You have to kinda weave in between the other person.
All the while perfectly balanced.
Trust so much fucking trust.
I also love the idea of Dick being able to lean on Tim if he were to fall Tim would grab him.
They are so fucking in-tune.
*Ive always wondered if there was a name for that trick or if they just were fooling around one day and did it but it seems so simple or even kinda stupid but it’s difficult as shit.
A character with the acrobatics skill can perform impressive feats, like balancing on taut ropes and wires (Terry Dykstra, D&D Rules Cyclopedia by Aaron Allston, TSR, 1991)
