Around sixty Mexican migrants from the states of Michoacán and Veracruz who are fleeing the violence of their home towns, approached U.S. border officials at the Otay-Tijuana Mexico border to seek asylum to the United States on Friday, February 18, 2022. — Some of the migrants have been waiting months for a replay to their pleas; some have been staying in shelters in Tijuana but have felt ignored, impatient and desperate in getting any type of help from authorities. Most of the migrants stayed throughout the day and until night when Mexican officers from the National Institute of Immigration (INM) told their compatriots they could not stay at the Otay port of entry and had a choice to either leave on their own accord or be caravanned back to a city shelter. Migrants were also warned if they did not comply with the orders they would be arrested. None resisted. — #tijuana #tijuanaotay #mexico #tijuanamexico #migration #asylumseekers #photojournalism #fotoperiodismo #documentaryphotography #everydayeverywhere #everydaylatinamerica #everydaylafrontera #everydaymigration #everydaysocialjustice #everydaymexico #everydayusa #reportagespotlight (at Otay/Tijuana Border) https://www.instagram.com/p/CaLnvqjldmM/?utm_medium=tumblr
