if I had the power to make a wish that would destroy our current reality and replace it with a new one, I would make all the kwamis stranger little wierd freaks.
Here's my take on Tikki's true form! I wanted something a bit less humanoid and more otherworldly in my design, something that belongs more to the cosmos than to earth, but still drawing on her canon design. I like to imagine that she uses her many arms to weave energy together in order to Create, though in this form it's often planets and young concepts she weaving.

@jotg-miraculousrewriteau is where you'll see any updates about this story/au/rewrite I have going on if you get interested. It'll take some time before I get around to writing it but I'll be trying to draw more. I'll list some reasons for why I haven't gotten much out recently under the cut. Not abandoning the au tho!
This one was a STRUGGLE and part of it was because I still liked last year's and because my interest in ml has taken a back burner with other interests BARGING IN this year.
Not to say that I don't want to work on my rewrite anymore, but I'm probably gonna do some more rewatching so I can get fully back into it again. I can't really plop down what I've come up with for the rewrite and be satisfied anyway, so I'm stuck until I get the thing written and drawn.
THAT ASIDE, I changed up their posing again and included updates to the character design. I don't know if what I've drawn Marinette in here will stick for her redesign as far as outfits are concerned, but I don't really like the previous outfit I gave her anymore so I needed to work with something new.
Overall I like how this turned out, even if I'm a bit unsure abt other areas.
Specifics: Once again, I liked coloring and drawing Marinette more which shouldn't be a surprise since I have more to work with in her design. I made the foolish mistake of not including her freckles in the past, so now I'm amending for that. She's sort of matching her bf now.
I included some lore bits abt Tikki and Marinette's complicated relationship here that I haven't talked abt before. Marinette is not doing anything to Tikki intentionally, but I have a plot line in the story I have planned that involves how the kwamis went from deities to kwamis. Got caged in the miraculous. And the consequences that follow.
INcluding Marinette and Tikki gaining a strained relationship for the majority of the story.
But that's all I'll say on that for now.
You might notice Marinette's skintone has changed a bit from other redesigns. What happened was, when I was first coming up with ideas for the rewrite, I was going off of critisysms I saw a lot and noting them down. One, was that Mari didn't look like she was biracial and her skin tone should reflect that. Now. I was young and figured "Oh okay! So. Lets look up what average chinese skintones are!" ...I found the racist color swatches that got pretty close to yellow and I ignorantly changed her skin tone to that.
So! Now her skin tone is closer to canon's and I've decided anything about her heritage isn't something I'll tackle in my rewrite/au since I'm not qualified. I still have some things I've changed so she looks similar to both parents, but no more of that skin tone.

A little fun experiment I had with attempting to make Tikki and Plagg a bit more yinyang coded in their designs; mostly with focusing on a black and white color scheme. I also chose to change their pronouns as yin is associated with feminine and yang with masculine.
I'm not too sure about Tikki mostly being white, but I must say I absolutely loved drawing tuxedo Plagg! Definitely a different style for both of them, but it was fun! :D

Redesign for Tikki, where her tail is replaced with wings and elytra like a true ladybug. I always thought she deserved wings, and I feel this makes her look more like a bug. I also gave her literal starry eyes like in her true form, though more faint.

I wanted to post this despite most of these being pretty sloppy with sketches and some coloring cause I didn't want to get too far away from the week b4 posting. OH and I drew the Bellusromantic plagg almost a year ago but never posted it, he cuddles with the flagg Adrien got him.
Adrien wishes he could get a pic but kwami's don't show up on camera so :p

It is so weird to draw Tikki and Plagg with accurate to canon designs. ESPECIALLY plagg, with how much I draw the redesigned versions of them. Lmk if any of you want to see beginning ideas for tikki redesign cause she was a RIDE and in the end I settled back to something closer to the og
Anyway, Tikki and Plagg are aromantic fight me. Or at the very least are in my au, though in my thing they go many hundreds of years never labelling it. Plagg doesn't mind the label, he does insist to Adrien there should be a cheese romantic one too. The worst part is Adrien knows some people would agree with plagg
Tikki doesn't really label how she feels, she simply doesn't feel romantic attraction and human labels don't interest her. (But she's still here cause I mean) I also experimented with a human design for tikki briefly
You ask what Tikki and Plagg's relationship is in my au then? I'd say pretty much queer platonic or really really close buds bonded for life.
Mina ashido now counts as my first Mha art posted online, with some hopefully coming soon. It is out of place among miraculous but I HAD to include the cupioromantic queen!!
And alix is a no brainer honestly, too bad I didn't get more time to fully render her, maybe I will be able to some time in the future
More doodles + a little more information about how Marinette and Adrien were chosen! I gotta remind myself that no one’s gonna be interested in my rewritten AU if I don’t SHARE any of the changes before I start writing and posting it.
-Marinette in the beginning doesn’t like Adrien very much and it takes a season for her to warm up to him and get a crush on him
-The ladybug and cat miraculous usually have their owner chosen by the Kwami’s themselves, since they are the best judge of people who fit their values. But because of the way their miraculous are programmed, when one kwami chooses their holder, the other only has a set amount of time to find their holder.
-This is to prevent large gaps of time between chosen holders. (theres also a rule that the age gap can’t be very large to prevent absurd age gaps where the partners can’t connect to each other)
Plagg rushes to get Adrien because he wants to break this goodie two shoes that could be a GREAT cat. Also because he senses something mysterious and eerie from the mansion that he can’t quite place. That leaves Tikki to find the closest 15 year old that fits her criteria for a good Ladybug.
Plagg and TIkki both judge the heck out of each other’s chosen holder in the first season. I’ll be drawing this out eventually. If you have any questions about my rewrite, feel free to leave them in the comments and if I deem them not really spoilery, I’ll answer!
