Mourning Tiktok in a “brain rot” way, but also in a “the continual loss of information, creations, and a visual record of human activity via direct government interference breaks me as historian” way.

I didn't stage this. This was legitimately my last few moments on tik tok.
Not my vid
The tiktok ban isn't just "Oh no were losing our favorite social media"
It has become a huge form of communication and community worldwide to connect with people you otherwise wouldn't hear from at all (which helps bring attention to world issues as well)
It has become a major news source for people as well getting first hand accounts
And also by banning tiktok it is setting a precedent. If they can get away with banning tiktok because it's not owned by an American company they can justify doing the same thing to ANY non American owned app
It IS a violation of freedom of speech and is unconstitutional

THEY HIT THE FIXKING PENTAGON
is it time to come back to Tumblr?
I saw this guide on my mom's long forgotten XiaoHongShu. So I post here if anyone need it. You can find the OP by the watermark on the picture.
I do have to say, it's been interesting to watch the influx of people migrating to this app in light of tiktok and meta turning into UNDENIABLE (I mean not even sugarcoated anymore) machines of propaganda. I've seen a lot of genuinely NEW people here, and part of me doesn't know how that's possible. Like, what do you mean you haven't been rotting on here since 2010? What do you mean you don't know about the 5-minute scroll of the sky gradient post, or the miraculous no notes post? You have to really think about what superwholock means? How has anyone not been stuck here since the dark ages? In the blesséd days before the porn bot infestation and the NSFW ban. Discovering that these people truly do exist has honestly been the most shocking aspect about all of it.
