Where next? (brooch): This brooch it's a symbol of the different stages that I went through while here in UK. That is why the brooch has 3 layers/stages. Stage 1 was moving to London and starting sixth form with new people and new language. Stage 2 was moving here to Rochester and starting a university career in something I've never did before. Stage 3 is the future, the unknown that is coming and it's exciting me.
Storytiles: The brief I created for this collection had been changed as the project moved on. As soon as I collected the tile shards I realized that what I really wanted to show in this project was how to tell my story. The tiles shards came from other places, each one has a different story and each one ended up in the same place. Just like me who I come from a different country, have my own story and ended up in the same place as these tile shards. The tiles were broken and some of their patterns faded away with the time. I decided to pick them up, love them and give them another use. From there my aim became to create representations and stories about my journey here in UK.
Another final piece that I retire from final collection because it didn’t match the series style.
Deciding if I want the metal tile shards to be oxidised or not. They will most likely be oxidised because I don’t wante them to stand out from their settings.
